Overview

Responsible for directly supervising manufacturing operations. Ensure associates work in a safe environment. Motivate and coordinate associates to meet safety, quality, delivery and cost objectives within the department. Responsible for overseeing department workflow, troubleshooting and resolving production problems. Develop and maintain a team environment which will work toward providing continuous improvement. Lead staff of up to 75 hourly associates.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively implement and promote a safe work environment.

  • Lead and motivate team to achieve a positive team based work environment that meets performance goals and objectives for safety, quality, delivery and cost. Communicate expectations and results.

  • Manage workforce according to company philosophy aligned with "Who We Are", mission, beliefs, values and vision.

  • Responsible for planning and scheduling operations and workforce on a daily basis.

  • Regularly review process and productivity information. Troubleshoot and resolve production, quality and delivery issues working closely with a variety of support departments such as engineering, maintenance and planning.

  • Train, evaluate, coach and mentor associates, utilizing performance management techniques, to help improve performance, including disciplinary actions as necessary. Identify top talent for advancement opportunities.

  • Lead, participate in and support Continuous Improvement and other problem-solving activities. Lead associates to use Continuous Improvement tools. Support implementation of new processes and methods.

  • Maintain and consistently administer local policies to meet day-to-day operating requirements.

  • Responsible for maintaining procedures and work instructions and for completing a variety of administrative tasks as necessary.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years manufacturing / leadership experience. Possess technical skills related to the area of responsibility. Previous supervisory experience and Bachelor's degree preferred. Ability to read, write and speak English. Strong communications skills are essential.

They are tasked working together as a team with delivering consistency in process controls on a daily basis that lead to cost savings at customer location. Success in this position is geared towards future career opportunities within Vallen Metalworking Solutions & Services team. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: * Check fluid reservoir levels and measure fluid concentrations in machinery and/or sumps. * Add fluids in the correct ratios to sump and/or machinery as required (e.g., product coolant, water, lubricant, etc.). * Record data for each sump and/or machinery. * Support change-out of metalworking fluid systems under customer direction. * Clean sump screens. * Change filters. * Remove chips. * Operate forklift to move product following customer and Vallen's safety procedures. * Monitor fluid inventory levels and report when inventory is low. * Conduct lubricant/coolant lab checks. * Perform other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications: * High school diploma or equivalent; directly applicable experience may be substituted. * CNC machinery experience preferred. * Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. * Accurately read and understand measurement devices.
