POSITION SUMMARY:

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for managing production, providing leadership to the manufacturing or distribution team, and facilitating the production process to ensure the achievement of all manufacturing related objectives. This person works directly with the Leads, employees, and other members of management in their facility to oversee the production floor, drive operational excellence.

The Operations Supervisor is a Front-Line Leader with overall responsibility of Human Capital within their span of control. They are responsible for the performance and development of the front-line employees. The Supervisor must make adjustments to execute production plans by managing resources in support of the overall Value Stream goals and Customer Demand.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Education: bachelor's degree preferred, not required.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a production control/planning environment preferred, in a related field.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (preferred not required):

  • 5 years of manufacturing or machine related experience where material flow is monitored and acted on.

  • OSHA 10 or 30 Hr.

  • Lead Auditor Certification for a recognized standard (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, etc.)

  • Lean Certification

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safety Management: Monitor shop floor for safety issues, complete accident investigations related to Operations (with assistance from EH&S), root cause analysis and completion of corrections (escalate when necessary), ensure PPE is worn and adequate, etc.

  • Lead by demonstrating Safe production and Quality conscious work habits throughout all value streams.

  • Facilitate the achievement of daily production goals and KPIs.

  • Ensure production runs according to schedule, safely and meets OFS's quality standard.

  • Ensure policies and processes are deployed throughout the value streams.

  • Participate as needed in Lean activities, such as Quality circles, Kaizen events, Problem Solving events, SMED, GEMBA walks, Daily Huddles, etc.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Manipulation of data in excel and formula creation.

  • Intermediate knowledge about quality tools (5 Why's, Pareto charts, fish bone, etc.) at a level to train and explain to others.

  • Strong 5S skills.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to learn new skills and adapt to change quickly.

  • Must be flexible and willing to accept responsibilities that are outside the traditional scope.

  • Be open to changes, result oriented and have the condition to keep a positive relationship with his/her team and other shifts.

  • Any other activities as directed by the Plant Leadership.

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS:

  • Demonstrate effective communications (verbal, written) skills

  • Proficient with MS Office Word and Excel

  • Maintain discretion when working with confidential and proprietary information

  • Strict adherence to Company safety policies and procedures

  • Conform to all aspects of OFS' "Standards of Conduct" document
