Position scope/summary:

The Associate Production Supervisor - Molding provides front line leadership and direction, supervision, operations performance measurement, problem solving direction and attention to assigned shift and production areas within the facility. In addition, the Associate Production Supervisor mentors and supports Leads and Molding Operators regarding development of a lean environment and works in collaboration with the Senior Production Supervisor on development of Process and Setup Technicians.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsible and accountable for shift output performance. Provides guidance, training, support, and direction to direct reports to achieve desired results.

  • Ensures Molding Operators are assigned to appropriate work areas, assignments and/or machines based on skills, knowledge, abilities, flexibility, degree of training and limitations to maximize utilization of shift team members.

  • Build, lead, develop and motivate production team. Create the culture of ownership within and across teams that delivers optimized performance.

  • Develop or assist in development of standard work. Manage daily expectations of Standard Work as outlined by Operations Management.

  • Identify, understand, report, and improve manufacturing variances.

  • Work daily as team member with other shift Supervisors and Technicians to communicate and address shift issues, to improve performance and solve root cause problems. Communicates daily to ensure a smooth transition at shift changeover.

  • Ensures coordination among appropriate departments in order to meet lead times and customer deadlines.

  • Ensure Shift Lead understands and meets facility related goals for Quality, Cost, and Delivery. Take direction from Senior Supervisor and interpret goals to provide meaningful daily direction to Team.

  • Protect team from interruption for any reason and maximize team focus on building quality product; recommend improvements to the production process, equipment uptime and product quality. Closely monitor and reduce amount of indirect activities performed by Teams through active engagement.

  • Lead compliance to Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Documentation Practices through demonstration of compliance and clear communication to Leads, Technicians, Material Handlers and Production Associates.

  • Ensures adherence to all company safety policies, rules and regulations, company manufacturing procedures; productivity standards, and enforcing compliance as needed.

  • Oversees all production personnel directly and through Lead input. Collaborate with Senior Supervisor on all personnel actions - hiring, disciplinary measures, promotions, wage increases, transfers and timely performance appraisals.

  • Lead by example by complying with all company safety and housekeeping policies, rules and regulations.

  • Executes and adheres to all departmental policies, procedures and work instructions relevant to the Manufacturing/Production department.

  • Manage all time off requests for assigned lines; assure production needs are met while honoring approved time off requests.

  • Manage Time and Attendance punches ensuring all labor is accurately recorded and reported, and complete all time punch corrections required by payroll in a timely fashion.

  • Ensures production log is being maintained to reflect current production status.

  • Ensures priorities are setup and scheduled jobs are continuously running to maximize the use of production equipment and to limit downtime and ensure that scrap levels are minimized.

  • Ensures damage prevention of equipment through good manufacturing practices.

  • Ensures that production labor is monitored to produce high quality standards with low monetary output.

  • Willing to work weekends when required.

  • Performs other duties as necessary.

  • Ability to work in a demanding user environment

  • Able to sit, stand for long periods

  • Walking, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 45lbs.

Qualifications:

  • Must have minimum of 1-3 years plastic injection molding experience; minimum of 1 - 3 years in a supervisory or lead role capacity. Medical manufacturing experience preferred.

  • Injection molding equipment and auxiliary equipment operation knowledge is preferred.

  • Demonstrated effective communication and leadership skills; strong ability to work cooperatively with others in a team-based environment and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing to deliver required business results.

  • Demonstrated computer skills working with Microsoft applications (Outlook, Excel and Word). IQMS is a plus.

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to train others.

Education:

  • High School Diploma required; Bachelors in Operations/Engineering or Business preferred
