Our Ideal Production Supervisor will:

Effectively lead all associates who produce, schedule, build and ship product in their area of responsibility. The Production Supervisor will ensure the health and safety of all associates reporting to them, prioritize the manufacturing of products and ensure full equipment utilization, and assigns associates to work schedules to optimize productivity and efficiency. The Production Supervisor will learn, implement and teach elements of the IPS Business System including; kaizen - continuous improvement, problem solving and daily visual management.

This position leads production for our first shift, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, Monday-Friday. It is a key role for the Plumbing Division of IPS Corporation, based in Collierville, TN, which manufactures market-leading niche plumbing products sold to wholesale plumbing and roofing distributors.

Key Supervisor Responsibilities Include:

  • Accomplishes manufacturing goals by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.

  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees, developing personal growth opportunities.

  • Drives continuous improvement from annual associate engagement surveys: understands the data, develops actions plans to improve associate engagement, performance enablement and supervisor effectiveness.

  • Maintains workflow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.

  • Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.

  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.

  • Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs, evaluating new equipment and techniques

  • Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data, answering questions and responding to requests.

  • Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements, implementing change.

  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.

  • Resolves manufacturing problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.

Your Education and/or Background Experience will have:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred

  • 3-5 years of related manufacturing experience

  • Prior experience managing a team.

  • Prior experience managing processes and implementing process improvements.

  • Prior experience with financial planning and strategy, as well as tracking budget expenses

  • Prior experience with production planning, controls and Instrumentation

  • Strong communication skills - both written and verbal

  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Ability to work any shift.

Physical Requirements:

Must have the ability to sit and stand for long periods. Must be able to lift and move items or boxes up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be extended to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
