Responsibilities:

Supervisory duties:

  • Manages all related personnel actions, including final selection, training, performance appraisal, discipline, and safety procedures.

  • Investigates and responds to all safety, environmental, and other incidents involving production employees and ensures adherence to all rules, policies, practices and procedures.

  • Recommends improvements in facilities, equipment and manpower utilization to improve product quality and productivity while lowering operational and maintenance costs.

  • Conducts routine administrative work (e.g., develop employee work and vacation schedules, timecard approvals, training schedules, employee recognition, monitoring attendance, etc.).

  • Responsible for working with the maintenance team to schedule PM requirements, outages, turnaround and equipment overhaul so as not to negatively impact production. Includes the initiation of work orders, setting of priorities and planning and executing turnaround items.

  • Works with engineering department to develop and complete projects within the assigned units which includes participation on various teams working on product quality, productivity or improvements as needed.

  • Responsible for Environmental, Safety and Health activities in their area of supervision, and as assigned by their manager

  • Manages the daily operations for production across multiple units.

  • Responsible for consistent attainment of production schedules at optimum productivity and cost levels.

  • Analyzes, modifies and upgrades existing processes and procedures.

  • Recommends improvements in production flow or methods.

  • Coordinates with other sites to ensure support in attaining output, productivity and quality.

Engineering duties:

  • Identifies and investigates issues that present unusual conditions, bringing in resources as needed to help.

  • Assesses feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering tests, products, and equipment.

  • Coordinates implementation of new or revised engineering solutions.

  • Process Improvement duties:

  • Executes and leads performance improvement activities which employ various improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, BPI, KAM, etc.).

  • Facilitates the implementation of applicable BEST/CLASS criteria.

  • Develops key performance indicators (KPIs) and management dashboards based on strategic objectives and performance improvement goals.

Project Management duties:

  • Effectively manages small to mid-sized projects to ensure project completion on-time, on-budget, and on-quality; resolves issues and conflicts; coordinates project work with other areas; regularly reports project status.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • B.S. in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical) is preferred

  • Certification in at least one process-improvement methodology (e.g., Six Sigma Green Belt, Lean) is preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of demonstrated increasing responsibility preferably in a chemical manufacturing facility.

  • Ability to collaborate with other functions and/or external contacts.

  • Responsible for supervising at least three complex units.

Technical Competencies:

  • Demonstrated mastery of production management.

  • Ability to evaluate and advise on project viability.

  • Strong time management and prioritization skills.

  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent computer skills especially Microsoft Office, SAP, etc.

  • Strong familiarity with OSHA, ISO, MOC.

VIEW JOBS 3/15/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-06-13T00:00 Purpose * Supervises, manages and leads team members * Ensures daily manufacturing schedule is completed * Ensures products meet quality standards and required specifications Areas of Responsibility * Communicates with employees to ensure compliance of safety, training, quality, mechanical, 5S and production requirement priorities * Responsible for ISO9001 compliance within assigned area * Responsible for communicating with PLOMS, Process Engineers, Planners and Production Control for specification compliance and shipment requirements * Responsible for a daily reporting of order completions * Responsible for writing of AIR's (quality deviations) when needed * Monitors production of product within area and reacts/responds to issues with correction methods to improve/ensure production consistently meets necessary production standards * Leads by example with 5S program and continuous improvement initiatives and ensures operators within assigned area participate and support same * Responsible for coaching /motivating employees to achieve their maximum potential giving them proper directions and feedback * Manages training/development of operators within assigned area in a manner that develops autonomy and creates development opportunities for operators * Disciplines/coaches employees in a fair, legal and consistent manner * Communicate with maintenance personnel about equipment issues * Responsible for organization & 5's of designated area, and do 5's audits * Responsible to ensure employees possess the necessary PPE to do their jobs * Responsible for evaluating schedule, scheduling equipment & employees, communicating with production control & Planners * Responsible to communicate/trouble shoot issues due to inaccurate routers, and BOM issues * Responsible for approval of hourly employee time cards weekly (electronic) for payroll * Reviews employee performance reviews, including probationary period reviews: (Cell Supervisor will perform evaluations) 30-60-90-120 On-The-Job Training Evaluations and annual evaluations Required Skills and Qualifications * 3 to 5 years previous supervision or similar work experience required * Good computer skills using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) * Ability to effectively supervise a diverse group of employees * Knowledge of Oracle software is preferred * Must be able to work in a non-climate controlled climate * Must be able to physically move material, possibly up to 50 lbs * Must be able to effectively communicate with other employees, both verbally and in writing * Good reading comprehension is required * Ability to work extended hours as needed, including evenings, overnight, weekends and holidays Nexans El Dorado AR
