Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Know and comply with all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WI). Create, review, recommend and revise SOP(s) and Work Instructions as required. Oversee and/or conduct training and document appropriately.

  • Maintain a safe, clean and organized work environment to established 6S Standards. Practice safe lifting and carrying in accordance to EH&S guidelines. Keep all equipment (machines, tools, work stations, and storage units) organized and in good condition.

  • Ensure completion of Batch Record Accountability in absence of Accountability Clerk.

  • Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Direct, guide, support and coach the Production Department.

  • Responsibilities for the direct supervision and activities of the Production Team Leaders, Lead Operators, Senior Line Inspectors, Line Inspectors at the Northrock facility.

  • Responsible for employee relations and development, including timely completion of annual performance appraisals, compliance to company policies and procedures, progressive disciplinary action and performance improvement plans as needed.

  • Monitor absenteeism record keeping in the Kronos system to assure compliance with the company's attendance policy. Review and process punch detail for accuracy on a weekly basis and approve within the Kronos system in a timely manner.

  • Administer established compensation, personnel policies, handle employee relation concerns, and maintain employee personnel files.

  • Responsible for department staffing, scheduling, work assignments, training, employee development, make recommendations as appropriate (i.e. -hire, promotion, termination, etc.).

  • Fulfill department responsibilities including, but not limited to the department budget, monthly spend and monitor compliance to established budget. Provide back-up to direct reports in the absence.

  • Fill in for Team Leads in their absence.

  • Resource to the Production Team on Serialization and Aggregation processes.

  • Complete Safety Walks, Gemba walks, 6S audits and other items identified in the Lead Standard Work (LSW) tasks.

  • Maintain an active and visible presence in the Production areas while being prepared to analyze, discuss, present practical solutions to equipment problems, scheduling issues, downtime, scrap rates, conflicts, inconsistencies, through timely start-ups, changeovers monitored and evaluated to track proper line clearances and efficiencies in order to implement solutions.

  • Ensure proper data entry into SAP and perform other related tasks within the SAP program.

  • Correct documentation errors in SAP.

  • Review Documented Goods Movement for proper goods issued to the production line daily.

  • Train and Assist all personnel in the proper use of SAP system.

  • Ensure good housekeeping throughout the Production area.

  • Participate in the Plant Safety Program.

  • Communicate with other Supervisors through daily shift meeting.

  • Work closely with other departments in completing site improvement projects and provide status updates. Be a champion, lead, support, and an advocate on site projects, helping to streamline the process, maximize efficiencies, eliminate waste and help implement improvements to achieve company goals. (i.e. Kaizen events, 6S audits, etc.).

  • Identify and drive continuous improvement efforts to achieve company goals.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Production Manager.

The minimum qualifications for this role are:

  • Must possess knowledge of Manufacturing Processes in a Pharmaceutical environment or related field.

  • Must possess ability to write reports, use Word and Excel computer software. Experience with advanced computer programs preferred.

  • Position functions autonomously, and directly reports to the Production Manager. Position directly supervises employees. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and 2-4 years of Pharmaceutical, cGMP, ISO, and manufacturing experience required. However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.

  • Ability to read and interpret complex business and/or technical documents. Ability to write comprehensive reports and detailed business correspondence. Ability to work with groups of people such as other departments and communicate known concepts. Ability to present to a group of departments.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and perform simple algebra.

  • Ability to solve problems with a variety of concrete variables through semi-standardized solutions that require some ingenuity and analysis. Ability to draw inferences and follow prescribed and detailed procedures to solve moderately complex problems.

  • Moderate physical demand. Continuous/frequent lifting/moving average weight (25 to 50 lbs/11-27 kgs) and occasionally lifting heavy weight materials or strenuous activity.

  • Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, and climb steps. May require use of hands and use of arms to lift and scoop. May be required to lift or maneuver boxes or containers using lifting equipment as well as physically pushing, rolling or lifting. May be required to wear personal protective equipment including but not limited to: respiratory protection, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes and protective clothing.

  • Intermittently sitting, standing, walking or stooping. Typically sitting at a desk or table. Repetitive Computer entry/typing. Requires physical dexterity; twisting and turning of upper torso. Lift and carry 50lbs up a 3-5 tier stationary ladder.

  • Physical Demand Strength Rating

  • Medium Work.
  • Normal office environment combined with production/manufacturing and warehouse environment. Work closely with others. Generally good working conditions. Some precautions required to protect oneself such as safety glasses, ear protection, protective clothing, etc. Injuries improbable except for minor cuts, burns, etc.
