PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
Responsible for monitoring and coordinating all operations of the shift overseeing safety, production, quality, training and supervision of team members. In collaboration with Department Managers, continuously monitors and manages overall efficiencies while minimizing downtime, waste and expenses.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITY:
Supervises overall safety, quality, productivity, and team member relations to achieve positive results across all production departments (Print, Die Cutting, Finishing, Shipping, Maintenance)
Demonstrates a personal commitment to Workplace and Product Safety and enforces plant safety regulations with team members ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
Monitors and adapts production activities to eliminate waste and ensure adherence to production and shipping schedule
Sets and communicates daily goals for machine centers and holds team members accountable to results
Promotes, educates and enforces quality standards ensuring compliance to SCT's Quality Program
Addresses production problems as they arise by evaluating root cause, recommending solutions, and providing on the job training to the team
Maintains and oversees timecards, vacation requests and staffing needs while partnering with Production Manager on scheduling and overtime needs
Partners with Talent Acquisition and the People Business Partner to interview, select and and onboard new team members
Effectively trains and onboards new team members, including temporary staff members, ensuring they have the tools, training and proper resources to effectively perform the job
Continuously provides performance feedback to team members through coaching and providing on-going support including offering regular recognition and praise
Partners with team members to resolve work issues and/or overcome obstacles; works closely with People Business Partner regarding any disciplinary action, or team member issues to ensure timely resolution and follow up
Effectively and accurately cascades and communicates company information to all shift team members ensuring important information is provided and understood
Completes and maintains all necessary production records and documentation
Partners with Production Management to provide feedback and ensure completion and delivery of on-schedule performance reviews to team members
Actively engages the incoming and outgoing Supervisors and/or Leads ensuring an effective transition to the next shift while also providing Production Manager and any other stakeholders with regular and frequent status updates and necessary communication.
Opens and closes plant each week ensuring all site security measures are followed.
Attends trainings and meetings as requested by management and actively participates on various teams or committees to contribute to the continuous improvement of safety, quality and overall operations
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
5+ years of progressive experience in a manufacturing environment including a minimum of 2 years serving in a leadership capacity
Experience in the corrugated, paper or folding carton industry is preferred.
Bachelors' degree is preferred, will consider experience in lieu of degree.
Proficient in MS Office applications
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must have the ability to read, understand, and communicate to others the meaning of complex documents including legal documents, letters, etc. and write legibly in English. Must be able to understand and speak clearly, and communicate in English.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide both fractions and decimals, solve equations, read measurements. Use formulas to calculate and analyze data.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, regularly required to walk, stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with arms and hands. Frequently is required to climb, balance, twist, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. While in plant, may frequently lift/move 25 to 75 pounds. Must be able to perform these functions for a minimum of 8 hours straight (with a 30-minute meal break any other applicable breaks during the shift) on a regular basis. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Normal office environment located in plant, frequently in plant around moving machinery and equipment, loud noise, heat, fumes and paper dust. Occasional travel required for training or meetings utilizing air and/or vehicle travel.
