The role of the Production Superintendent is to provide oversight to the shift supervisors to ensure that all operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with operating and company policy. The Production Superintendent will be responsible for day to day operations including direct oversight of daily production and maintenance related activities in the facility. The Production Superintendent will work with the Operations Manager, Maintenance Manager, EHS Manager and Supply Chain Manager to coordinate all production, maintenance and raw material receipt activities in a safe and productive manner. This position will report to the Operations Manager and is located in Leland, North Carolina.
Follow all company policies and procedures pertaining to ISO 22716Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) guidelines for cosmetics including review of completed batch and raw material documents.
Perform quality and housekeeping audits.
Participate in safety programs, committees, or teams, and by conducting safety audits.
Create and review Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) with management support.
Provide and maintain a safe work environment by suspending or correcting any activity posing threat to employees, community, environment and equipment.
Adequately supervise, coordinate and document chemical operations and employee activities during shift through coordination with the shift supervisor.
Communicate all changes to production scheduling and methods to each shift, including proper training.
Observe employees to ensure processes are conducted safely and in accordance with standard operating procedures and company policy.
Appropriately enforce company policies and proceduresin relation to process and personnel requirements/ standardswhile maintaining communication directly with necessary management personnel.
Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, working conditions and efficiency.
Complete understanding of all production equipment and processes including raw material bulk storage, crude product manufacturing production, distilled product manufacturing production and finished product manufacturing at the Aprinnova plant for training and troubleshooting purposes.
Train and advise operations personnel in the setup of chemical processes and the safe operations, maintenance, and repair of chemical process equipment.
Occasional coverage of chemical operator shift supervisor vacancies may be required.
Qualifications & Requirements
The Production Superintendent must be knowledgeable in the safe and efficient operation of all Amyris' chemical process equipment, Amyris' safety practices, safety policies, employee manual and emergency response procedures.
Minimum 5 years of experience as a chemical operator in a manufacturing plant and 1 year of experience in a supervisory position is required.
High school diploma or equivalent is required, Associate's Degree or higher with chemistry background preferred.
Position has typical day shift schedule with additional hours or days required as necessary. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; climb, bend and stoop; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. While working in this job the employee is frequently exposed to weather conditions including occasional extreme heat and cold.
