SouthernCalifornia Edison's (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit (T& D) is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, andmaintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion inassets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 14 million residents viaSCE's 5 million customer accounts.

Position overview

Thisposition is a Production Specialist (P-Spec) within Southern CaliforniaEdison's (SCE) Transmission & Distribution organizational unit. Thesuccessful candidate will focus on construction activities, providing directionto crews on work order execution plans, and strategically structuring workactivities within their work unit to optimize safety, productivity, and costefficiency. This position will report directly to a Field Supervisor.

Responsibilitiesinclude:

  • Responsible for organizing work, making sound decisions, and developing and implementing strategies to execute work on time and in the most productive and cost efficient manner possible.

  • Makes recommendations to Field Supervisor and directs E-crews in order to maximize crew productivity and cost efficiency by: Combining field experience of construction methods and a thorough understanding of productivity calculation to recommend manpower required to complete each job; applying a thorough understanding of productivity and the impact of fatigue, premium time, and resource allocation to work unit performance; ensuring the work order is executable and meets customer needs; ensuring all designs comply with design and construction standards; organizing construction activities and validating constructability and that crew has all required resources such as equipment, materials, and access to jobsite; and developing execution strategy, optimal scheduling, and job coordination to completion.

  • Assists Field Supervisor with the growth and development of E-crew foremen and linemen by: educating crews on throughput, cost efficiency, and other productivity metrics; providing feedback and coaching to e-crew foremen and linemen related to the production of high quality work orders; working with Field Supervisor to identify areas of improvement for each project; and serving as an upgrade in the absence of the Field Supervisor.

  • Ensures optimal efficiency of large projects by visiting jobsite during construction to explore opportunities for improvement with foreman while integrating lessons learned and applying the most up-to-date construction processes, environmental and health regulations, and design and construction standards (including, but not limited to, distribution design standards, Electrical Service Requirements, Construction/Maintenance Standards and GO 95 and 128 regulations.)

  • Maintains thorough knowledge and understanding of updated processes, equipment, design and construction standards, and environmental and health regulations. In addition, applies unique blend of technical knowledge and field experience to manage cost efficiency among crews.

  • Establishes and maintains high standards of excellence, communicating frequently and openly, engaging others in the solution of electrical distribution system problems and responding professionally to personnel requirements.

  • Creating and maintaining a safety conscious work environment by leading and influencing others to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.

  • Perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications

  • Must presently be or have prior experience as a journeyman lineman.

  • Experience with client/customer management providingexceptional customer service, customer satisfaction, building relationshipswith customers, identifying customer needs, and responding to customer issues.

  • Must possess and be able to maintain a valid Driver's License.

Desired qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Typically possesses 4 years of experience in electrical construction, planning, or scheduling.

  • Supervisory or team leadership experience.

  • Completing multiple projects/assignments concurrently while adjusting to changing priorities.

  • Interfacing and collaborating with crews, customers, local supervision, and other departments to develop solutions.

  • Broad knowledge in construction and maintenance and recognized within the district as an expert, not only as an effective foreman/lineman, but also technically qualified to implement strategies to maximize productivity.

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite.

  • Practicing and enforcing safety protocols and safe work practices.

  • Project Management Certificate or an equivalent combination of training and experience in project management.

  • Positionwill require 50% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCEservice territory.

The successful candidate will provide administrative support for the Local Planning Department and provide support to the District Management Team. Typical Responsibilities: * Calendaring meetings, including scheduling and coordinating meetings and conference calls, as well as preparing agendas and discussion materials. * Filing electronic and paper documents, including processing Temporary Power Pole, permit invoices, supply orders, purchase requests, and expense reports as needed. * Verifying contracts are complete for work orders. * Handling confidential and sensitive telephone calls, files, documents, and reports. * Coordinating and finalizing routine assignments to ensure timely completion. * Creating and maintaining district rosters and databases. * Utilizing on-line and standard computerized office support tools and software to enter and retrieve data and update systems. * Reviewing and routing incoming and outgoing correspondence, including following up where necessary. * Participating on the Administrative Team and other special projects as assigned to assist in delivering reports and managing information. * Making travel arrangements, providing back-up coverage to areas as needed, maintaining a safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.
