SouthernCalifornia Edison's (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit (T& D) is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, andmaintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion inassets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 14 million residents viaSCE's 5 million customer accounts.

Position overview

Thisposition is a Production Specialist (P-Spec) within Southern CaliforniaEdison's (SCE) Transmission & Distribution organizational unit. Thesuccessful candidate will focus on construction activities, providing directionto crews on work order execution plans, and strategically structuring workactivities within their work unit to optimize safety, productivity, and costefficiency. This position will report directly to a Field Supervisor.

Responsibilitiesinclude:

  • Responsible for organizing work, making sound decisions, and developing and implementing strategies to execute work on time and in the most productive and cost efficient manner possible.

  • Makes recommendations to Field Supervisor and directs E-crews in order to maximize crew productivity and cost efficiency by: Combining field experience of construction methods and a thorough understanding of productivity calculation to recommend manpower required to complete each job; applying a thorough understanding of productivity and the impact of fatigue, premium time, and resource allocation to work unit performance; ensuring the work order is executable and meets customer needs; ensuring all designs comply with design and construction standards; organizing construction activities and validating constructability and that crew has all required resources such as equipment, materials, and access to jobsite; and developing execution strategy, optimal scheduling, and job coordination to completion.

  • Assists Field Supervisor with the growth and development of E-crew foremen and linemen by: educating crews on throughput, cost efficiency, and other productivity metrics; providing feedback and coaching to e-crew foremen and linemen related to the production of high quality work orders; working with Field Supervisor to identify areas of improvement for each project; and serving as an upgrade in the absence of the Field Supervisor.

  • Ensures optimal efficiency of large projects by visiting jobsite during construction to explore opportunities for improvement with foreman while integrating lessons learned and applying the most up-to-date construction processes, environmental and health regulations, and design and construction standards (including, but not limited to, distribution design standards, Electrical Service Requirements, Construction/Maintenance Standards and GO 95 and 128 regulations.)

  • Maintains thorough knowledge and understanding of updated processes, equipment, design and construction standards, and environmental and health regulations. In addition, applies unique blend of technical knowledge and field experience to manage cost efficiency among crews.

  • Establishes and maintains high standards of excellence, communicating frequently and openly, engaging others in the solution of electrical distribution system problems and responding professionally to personnel requirements.

  • Creating and maintaining a safety conscious work environment by leading and influencing others to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.

  • Perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications

  • Must presently be or have prior experience as a journeyman lineman.

  • Experience with client/customer management providingexceptional customer service, customer satisfaction, building relationshipswith customers, identifying customer needs, and responding to customer issues.

  • Must possess and be able to maintain a valid Driver's License.

Desired qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Typically possesses 4 years of experience in electrical construction, planning, or scheduling.

  • Supervisory or team leadership experience.

  • Completing multiple projects/assignments concurrently while adjusting to changing priorities.

  • Interfacing and collaborating with crews, customers, local supervision, and other departments to develop solutions.

  • Broad knowledge in construction and maintenance and recognized within the district as an expert, not only as an effective foreman/lineman, but also technically qualified to implement strategies to maximize productivity.

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite.

  • Practicing and enforcing safety protocols and safe work practices.

  • Project Management Certificate or an equivalent combination of training and experience in project management.

Position Overview The Lineman position will be in the Power Delivery division within Southern California Edison's (SCE) Transmission & Distribution Organizational Units (TDOU). Typical Responsibilities may include: * Installs, removes, maintains, and repairs overhead and underground distribution and communication systems. * Installs and removes equipment such as poles, cross arms, towers, enclosures, ducts and piping and electrical or other apparatus such as transformers, switches, capacitors, pot heads, protective devices, cooling or insulating equipment, emergency gear and automatic cooling or insulating equipment, emergency gear and automatic reclosers. * Installs, removes, splices, bonds, terminates and tests conductor and cable, except paper insulated lead cable. * Connects, tests, adjusts, repairs, and maintains electrical equipment and apparatus. * Uses precautionary procedures, necessary tools and safety equipment to work on or near energized lines or equipment. * Operates test equipment such as amp, volt or ohm meters, phasing and cable test sets, fault finder, and cable locator. * Operates construction vehicles (up to 1,200 lbs.) in addition to vehicle auxiliaries and other powered equipment. Instructs and directs apprentices and helpers. * Performs related semi-skilled and unskilled work as required. * Maintaining a safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices. * Performing other responsibilities and duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications * Must be a certified Journeyman Lineman and possess a Journeyman Lineman card. * Due to the weight restrictions of safety equipment used by SCE linemen, candidates must weigh less than 285 pounds to qualify for the position. * Must currently possess a Class A motor vehicle operator's license. Desired Qualifications * Experience as a Distribution Journeyman Lineman including knowledge of associated construction methods and standards; and overhead and underground materials, tools, and equipment. * Knowledge of fundamentals of electricity as applied to electric circuitry and operation of electrical equipment. * Knowledge of mechanical principles as applied to rigging and the operation of tools and equipment; test instruments and procedures; accident prevention rules and safe work practice. * Ability to work safely and skillfully; follow instructions given in written, oral or diagrammatic form; use hand or power tools and operate construction equipment; climb poles and structures; work in high or confined places and perform very heavy physical work. * Experience with State General Orders 95 and 128. * Experience with construction methods and standards including experience with overhead and underground materials, tools, and equipment.
