Position Summary

Position Summary:

Position is responsible for the scheduling of WIP in a department to ensure alignment with capacity and material availability. The schedule will yield attainment of TOC targets and in process WIP movements. Schedule will ensure achievement of earned standard hour attainment. Partnering with operations and planning to develop optimal schedule to yield high confidence schedule.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

Primary Functional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining production schedule that meet departmental targets of throughput and earned standard hours daily and weekly goals.

  • Responsible for maintaining date fidelity in system.

  • Assist operational team to drive aged WIP movement which could include Engineering and Quality support.

  • Escalate and assist operational leadership team in driving WIP throughput to meet customer expectations and past due burndown

  • Ensure WIP velocity meets customer OTTR, past due burndown plans, throughput targets and flex targets for ESH. Facilitate and organize operational leadership team to drive actions to improve or escalate help needed to supporting functions.

  • Review master schedules and machine schedules continuously to ensure the established sequence is followed. Schedule jobs according to start date, machine capacity and priority. Provide dispatch lists

  • Make recommendations to modify schedules to minimize setup and changeovers and improve production efficiency. Coordinate significant schedule changes with Production Control Planners.

  • Break in and modify schedules to accommodate high priority orders.

  • Review and update reports in Excel using VLOOKUP to manipulate data from multiple spreadsheets.

  • Advise supervisor regarding status of any orders, materials problems, potential bottlenecks and tooling problems.

  • Exercise decision making to weigh-in work and move to other departments as required.

  • Check incoming and outgoing work areas and ensure work is moving on schedule.

  • Coordinate scheduling efforts with other shifts.

  • Review future orders and machine loading in other departments and schedule to avoid potential capacity problems.

  • Maintain files and records related to material, tooling availability, completed orders and first operation production.

  • Work with engineering to resolve all dispositions for jobs on the weekly ship list.

  • Update, resolve issues, and move all critical sales jobs daily.

  • Release work for final testing in the QC lab when needed.

  • Maintain an accurate "Open Order File", update and correct related computer reports to accurately reflect the status of all orders, including current production counts, production rates, and special instructions from Engineering or Sales.

  • Maintain machine loading schedule to efficiently distribute workload and recognize critical load situations.

  • Check steel dates and production counts for accuracy.

  • Prepare list of premium dollar, priority and past due orders by department, facility and hours for production. Provide production with accurate daily balances to run on each order to eliminate over run and shortage variances.

  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Must have strong EXCEL experience

  • Syteline Experience is preferred

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize with limited direction

  • Must have the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet expectations for required competencies in position, which includes: 1) safety, health, and environmental awareness, 2) business ethics and compliance, 3) technical/professional competence and quality & time management, 4) interpersonal relations and communication skills, 5) initiative, flexibility, innovation, and adaptability, 6) continuous improvement and problem solving, and 7) planning and organizing.

  • Must have the ability to clearly articulate scheduling needs to management and Team Leads.

  • Must be persuasive and have the ability to lead meetings on production scheduling.

  • Use judgment to analyze facts and determine action using a wide range of procedures within the limits of standard practice

  • Plans own work for a wide range of procedures after objectives set by Supervisor, refers only unusual cases to supervision

  • Ability to foster teamwork and build collaborative relationships

  • Oral and written communication skills.

  • Detail oriented.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in materials control, logistics or other degree required.
  • 2-5 years' experience preferred.
