This position is responsible for developing the production schedule to satisfy customer demand while carrying minimum effective inventory, and incorporating labor/machine capacities. An effective production schedule will provide production, planning, purchasing and management the information to plan operations to optimize the business and meet customer requirements. The qualified individual will be responsible for providing production with a scheduling plan consistent with the plant capacity and sales forecast utilizing the SAP APO system. The individual will evaluate and analyze data regarding processes and systems, resolve problems with production schedules and recommend procedures to avoid future problems. Strong collaboration with Production teams, Planning, and Purchasing will be critical to meeting the business goals.
Develop production schedule to drive manufacturing schedules and procurement.
Conduct capacity analysis utilizing the MRP system (SAP/APO)
Manage inventory levels on the production plans
Work with buyer planners to adjust build schedules based on material and technical issues
Determine ability to meet requested customer dates based on capacity, cycle time and inventory lead times
Report production performance to plan
Prepare daily production Schedules and issue all work orders per production schedule
Create, maintain and ensure execution of production schedule
Coordinate activities with the Production Supervisors and team
Monitor production progress
Review demand and supply to understand bottleneck and propose alternative capacity for areas needing capacity improvement to meet demand
Perform ongoing analysis of weekly, monthly and future capacity to optimize production level and achieve manufacturing continuity during low and high volume
Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules and other reports / to determine production requirements and to evaluate production estimates and output
Work and communicate closely with multiple departments and tight deadlines
Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field / or equivalent work experience; 7+ years scheduling, inventory analysis experience, and capacity planning
Ability to read, write, analyze and interpret product information, production schedules, and other process documentation in English.
Computer proficiency, specifically with SAP (APO experience), Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, ERP/MRP system
Strong math and analytical skills
Proven people skills required, must have ability to work with others while effectively handling internal pressures
Excellent Communication Skills (written and verbal).
Organizational and problem solving skills required
Experience in a Lean environment - World Class Manufacturing, principals of Lean Manufacturing and APICS certification is preferred
MRP experience in Logistics, Customer Service, Scheduling, Sales & Operations, and Inventory
