Position: Production Planning Manager
Location: Dallas, TX HQ
Reports to: Sr Director, Logistics & Distribution
The primary responsibility of this position is to manage the production planning and scheduling activities to maximize the use of the organization's resources and meet established production specifications and schedules. In addition, this role will plan and prepare production workflows to establish sequence and lead time of each production operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts and customer orders.
Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop production planning staff to ensure that their activities meet pre-established targets (staff is remote).
Designs and implements the production schedule plan considering all aspects of production including low cost, timeliness, and effectiveness.
Monitor production status and ensure timely delivery.
Adjusts production schedules as needed in response to changes in demand, materials, or other resources.
Evaluates production statistics and their impact to the production schedule.
Resolve production issues and escalate unresolved issues to higher level management.
Manages work assignments in staffing, scheduling, coordinating, and planning.
Monitors the materials inventories, tracking of progress of production, and reviewing of factors which affect production schedules.
Liaise with functional or operational area managers to integrate their activities into productions plans, cost estimates, and schedules.
Analyzes plant capacity and production requisition data to determine manufacturing processes and required resources.
Recommends new policies or procedures as necessary.
Qualifications and Experience:
Requires a bachelor's degree.
Requires 3-5 years experience in production planning or scheduling.
Managerial experience is preferred.
Ability to organize and prioritize work, meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
Ability to train, supervise, direct and teach other employees.
A positive can-do attitude and team player
Customer service focus and good communication skills required.
Proficient personal computer skills including MS Office, electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, etc.
