Position Purpose

The Production Planner/Scheduler level I will assist in developing a Master Schedule for all assigned workflow, identifying potential resource constraints, and resolving conflicts or elevating these potential constraints to upper management. This position will work closely with the Production Planning and Control Manager providing assistance and feedback when required. This position will be responsible for the overall planning, scheduling, coordination, tracking, and expediting of work within or between assigned departments of the organization to meet the production forecast. The Production Planner/Scheduler level I will coordinate the collection of pertinent data to analyze performance elements from the functional departments. This position has to have knowledge of each stage of the production process to effectively organize resources and to execute a job plan that will keep production running on schedule.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Establish workflow schedules using capacity planning and priorities for work cells to meet the organizations overall goals by utilizing inventory information and production rates.

  • Correctly assess whether required parts can be issued from Inventory, should be manufactured in-house, or sub-contracted to outside vendors.

  • Determine the status of assigned workflow and alter unforeseen conditions to maintain workflow being engaged in the upfront planning of all workflow/projects, present and future, with the ability to respond to drop- in workflow with a reasonable degree of accuracy.

  • Assist in developing the Master Schedule by collecting data from all inputs including sales, production and operations.

  • Confer with department supervisors and other personnel to assess progress and discuss needed changes.

  • Research order and delivery discrepancies and resolve any MRP related issues. Take appropriate corrective actions to prevent similar issues.

  • Coordinate and manage special projects/customer work as required.

  • Assist in developing and publishing processes and procedures to standardize operating procedures of the department

  • Perform other duties as assigned to insure the success of projects, individuals, and the company

  • Oversee the preparation and deliver of detailed work packages including required drawings, production instructions, inspection requirements and router with completion dates.

Minimum Qualifications

  • AA degree in Business or Technical Associates Degree, or Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or technical field preferred, or equivalent experience.

  • Required previous work experience: 2 to 4 years of prior aviation/aerospace or other high technical manufacturing/MRO environment experience with knowledge of workflow and operation in a hands on labor capacity or in a production function (i.e. engineering, supply chain, quality, planning).

  • Knowledge of workflow and operation for aviation/aerospace or other high technical manufacturing/MRO environment in a hands on labor capacity or in a production support function with knowledge of project management, Microsoft Office products and Dynamics AX or other MRP/ERP system.

  • Must have strong organization, communication, project management, and computer usage with Microsoft Office products.

  • Ability to be flexible with a dynamic workload with attention to detail, change direction and handle multiple responsibilities and tasks on a regular basis and to work additional hours and shifts as required.

  • Requires a high level of communication both verbally and written to provide clear and concise work instructions and communicate verbally with managers, cell leaders and peers.

  • This position may require overtime, evenings, weekend work, or an on-call status to support the companys goals.

  • Although this position is subject to guidance and evaluation from management with goals, it is with limited amount of supervision; meaning the person must be self-motivated, a strong communicator, and thorough, but one who is cautiously assertive and can make decisions to support the companies goals.

LSBO Machine Shop only - schedules machine use based on shipping dates, interfaces with production facilities to schedule parts. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1. Inventory. Objective: to maintain accurate inventory of all parts in shipping area. Typical Activities: A. Maintains computerized inventory of all parts in shipping area. B. Logs all outgoing shipments in inventory system. C. Initiates paperwork to remove parts from inventory to stock crib. D. Calculates and reports daily in and shipped dollar figures. E. Makes adjustments to computerized inventory system as needed to assure accurate inventory status. F. May be required to handle hazardous waste. 2. Shipping Coordination. Objective: to accurately schedule and coordinate shipments in a timely manner. Typical Activities: A. Schedules shipping area clerical, marking and packing activities; assures effective workload of personnel, including end-of-month workload scheduling. B. Orders inspection certification paperwork; assures that proper paperwork remains with parts. C. Applies castings in inventory to scheduled and blanket customer purchase orders. D. Maintains export licensing logbook. E. Routes all shipments, including air, truck, prepaid and collect routing, per standard instructions and customer specifications; maintains routing log book. F. Communicates daily with planning, engineering, operations and freight carriers to assure efficient, timely shipments. G. Orders supplies for shipping area, including pallets, packing materials and office supplies. H. Schedules shipments to vendors for outside processing. 3. Machine Shop - LSBO only. Objective: to schedule parts through machine facilities and supply supervisor with production forecast needs. Typical Activities: A. Schedules machines daily for each shift based on required shipping dates; interfaces with planning and engineering departments. B. Identifies potential capacity problems for supervisor. C. Works with supervisor to identify hours, by part number, to be scheduled for outside sources. D. Provides Tool Crib supervisor with production schedule by part number. E. Provides supervisor with development parts list and new programs; coordinates fixture requirements for new production programs; works with supervisor to forecast short and long-term staffing, machine and space requirements 4. Safety. Objective: To take responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practices. Typical Activities: A. Adheres to plant and department safety rules. B. Safely operates all equipment and tools. C. Identifies and reports safety problems. 5. Performs other tasks as directed. TRAINING. 1. Training is provided on the job. 2. May be required to complete Hazardous Waste Management Training. ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS. 1. Previous shipping department experience required, with manufacturing shipping experience preferred. 2. Working knowledge of shipping functions. 3. Basic knowledge of inventory systems, preferably computerized systems. 4. Previous computer experience desirable. 5. Ability to read and follow instructions and shipping/postal regulations. 6. Ability to organize workloads efficiently and to attend to details. 7. Ability to coordinate a variety of activities, including the work of others. 8. Ability to work in difficult working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, temperature extremes and other elements for extended periods of time. MAJOR PLANT DIFFERENCES: 1.
