Production Planner

Neogen is looking to hire a Production Planner who will be responsible for monitoring and managing plant inventories and production levels for materials that are required. The role of Production Planner is critically important to the successful operation of an organization by meeting increasing efficiency, decreasing waste, lowering costs, and scheduling production to meet customer requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Create procurement and production schedules for area of responsibility

• Generate and monitor production plans, prioritizing work orders

• Monitor inventory levels of inputs with internal and external suppliers

• Monitor movement of materials through storage and production

• Maintains a rhythm to ensure work centers are running smoothly

• Collaborates with supply planner on schedule

• Resolve issues/opportunities and escalate when needed

• Attend operational meetings as needed

• Set preferred stock levels and prevent excess inventory within the plant

• Review plant supplies to ensure quality, monitor stock levels and maintain accessibility to information

• Build relationships with transportation, warehouse supervisors, and co-workers to achieve higher performance

• Make recommendations on flow considerations

• Prepare detailed reports relating to MRP, back orders, and schedules

• Engage in continuous improvement as it relates to processes and material availability

• Generate and manage purchase orders to suppliers

Education and Experience

• Four (4) years of combined experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Operations in a private, public, government or military environment

• Experience working with MS Office with demonstrated skill in utilizing Excel Spreadsheets

• Understanding of Manufacturing Process

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills (able to perform data analysis with mass data sets)

• Strong communication, interpersonal, and self-motivational skills

• Strong organizational and time management skills
