Production Planner - Large Generator Rotor Operations
A Snapshot of Your Day
The Production Planner coordinates and plans the manufacturing schedule in the Large Generator Rotor Operations team, which has responsibility for rotor machining, rotor winding, rotor assembly, and rotor balance. You will work with shift supervisors to supervise and control production, aligning on priorities and adjusting forecasts as needed. On a weekly basis you will report out production status for active projects to the project management team. You will support the service sales teams by synchronizing on capacity and availability for potential rotor service projects. You will also coordinate with production planners from other departments to incorporate their machining and balancing service needs into the production plan. Ultimately, you will ensure effective planning for:
New unit rotor manufacturing
Rotor servicing
Exciter machining services, and (4) balance services for large generator, large gas turbine, large steam turbine, industrial steam turbine, and exciter departments on the Charlotte campus.
How You'll Make an Impact
Analyze daily operating results, meet daily with peers, and consult on resolving production problems. Ensure that problems have been corrected. Communicate and collaborate with other shifts as well as other departments.
Identify the overtime work and people needed to perform the work.
Identify the need for temporary workers.
Supervise customer production requirements and coordinate schedule adjustments when required.
Evaluate production reports and metrics and make decisions that impact the results of the area of responsibility to established short- and long-range goals.
Responsible for reviewing performance against shop schedules and lineups.
You will gain experience in promoting and participating in continuous improvement/lean activities that seek to improve operational excellence.
What You Bring
A bachelor's degree with 2+ years of relevant experience, an associate's degree with 5+ years of direct experience, or a high school degree with 10+ years of experience in manufacturing operations.
Experience with lean manufacturing principles
Knowledge of generator rotor product & manufacturing processes is a plus
Knowledge of machining processes & tools is preferred
SAP experience is desirable

About the Team
Our Large Generator Rotor Operations team is responsible for manufacturing large electric generator rotors weighing up to 275 tons. We operate within the Large Generator team to supply new 150 - 1000 megawatt generators to power plants all over the world. In addition to manufacturing new rotors, we also service generator rotors by providing inspections, rewinds, modernizations, and upgrades.
Our Gas Services division offers low-emission power generation through service and decarbonization. Zero or low emission power generation and all gas turbines under one roof, steam turbines and generators. Decarbonization opportunities through service offerings, modernization, and digitalization of the fleet.
