Production Planner II

This position will be responsible to plan and coordinate finished goods wire harness for prototype, new model and service parts, based on company inventory targets, customer demand, quantity and design level, in-transit, and production. Managing all data associated with new model, new model setup, planning of product, delivery to customer service centers, and end customer.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitors customer demand for assigned finished goods to assure quality and monitor change, assist internal departments to resolve demands related problems both internally and externally

  • Manages daily activities of assigned customer wire harnesses production; work with manufacturing partners to quickly resolve problems that arise on a daily basis

  • Get to know all assigned finished goods parts, plant locations, production methodologies, related systems, procurement methods, lead-times, and internal warehouse handling procedures to maintain stability. Strive to minimize airfreight and obsolete material. Assist on build out activities as required by management.

  • Utilize production planning system to manage assigned task and maintain inventory levels in accordance with company policy. Requests decisions to the assistant manager or manager when shortages/overages are identified and negotiations are required with the manufacturing plant. Also, makes suggestions as to how to control any unexpected situation based on overall company expectations.

  • Cognizant of on-hand and in-transit finished goods inventory and departmental inventory plan. Provides instruction regarding part flow and material movement requests to responsible parties when required

  • Revise delivery schedule against inventory plan to identify possible internal / external inventory shortages, if any, communicate to assistant manager and work with manufacturing plant.

  • Works with manufacturing plants to make sure they flow our production plans and make sure they ship schedule production and gets delivery to the finished goods warehouse group

  • Formulate a contingency plan based on risk assessment to protect inventory to avoid major delivery issues

  • Participate as an active member of any prototype / new model start-up activity on behalf of production planning business unit. Participate in all meetings and act accordingly to meet department objectives

  • Updates, controls, and internally disseminates finished goods design level change information. Participate on design engineering meetings to provide planning information for design changes.

  • Follows business unit policies, procedures, work instructions. Assists with documentation and work instruction development as required by management.

  • Assists assistant manager with monthly business unit reporting as required by management (such as meeting minutes, P.O. comparison reports, to mention some)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required, Business Management/Supply Chain Management or similar study preferred

  • 3-5 years minimum experience in production and/or material planning and warehouse operations

  • Sequential manufacturing, scheduling, international business, import experience, FCA e-supplier experience preferred

  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel), Strong mathematical skills required

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Bilingual English/Spanish fluency required (read, write and speak)

  • Knowledge of the effective manufacture and distribution of finished goods, primarily in the Automotive Industry

VIEW JOBS 2/8/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-05-08T00:00 SEWS—El Paso Customer Service Center (Eastside Location) Material Planner I Procure mass production raw material required for wire harness business in GPP and Mexico, while balancing physical inventory and preventing line shutdown. Job Duties and Responsibilities * Review of MRP and release of weekly purchase orders to assigned vendor base as required per production plan loaded into MPS on a weekly basis. Includes communication with Service Centers and Production Planning for issuance of e-PO's if necessary. * Maintain safety stock and adequate levels of inventory available at warehouse to support mass production assembly. * Review, release and interpret forecast information to assigned vendor base. * Review of backorders and issuance of Supplier Delivery Non Conformance and Payment Deduction Notice to vendor base. * Follow up of new model vehicles and placement of prototype orders for trial and mass production startups. Follow up of build out models and keeping obsolescence to zero or minimum quantities also required. * Inform production plants of material arrivals and/or advise of any potential problems that production can encounter. * Generation of forecast report, inventory report, obsolescence control, downtime and others as needed * Provide implementation dates for new components on ECN/CCR to Design section to start up a new component and phasing out old components to avoid obsolescence * Assigning of carriers (FedEx/UPS/DHL) when expediting. Track and follow up on shipments required to avoid downtime at plants. Monitor and maintain Freight costs as established by Material Control Management. * Problem solving techniques to include Kaizen focus. * Other duties as needed. Qualifications * Associates' Degree, High School or Technical Certificate required. * 1 – 3 years progressive material or production control experience. Knowledge of warehouse operations required in order to understand material flow and problem solving. * Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel). * Positive attitude and team oriented, ability to handle multiple tasks and work with deadlines. * Effective analytical, written and oral communication, negotiating skills a must. * Some travel required (Domestic and International).
