Performance Pipe, a division of Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP, is the largest producer of polyethylene piping products in North America. Performance Pipe is currently seeking a Production Operator to join the Hagerstown, MD manufacturing location responsible for producing high quality polyethylene products. This position is a full-time employment opportunity at a 24/7/365 polyethylene pipe manufacturing extrusion operation.

Additionally, this position works a rotating 12-hour shift (including weekends and holidays). The work hours are 7:00 am until 7:00 pm or 7:00 pm until 7:00 am. Employees rotate 4 weeks on day shift, then 4 weeks of night shift. This is a safety sensitive position.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Participates in daily safety routines (both as an individual and team member).

  • Performs calibration functions on processing equipment.

  • Uses basic hand and power tools.

  • Measures pipe and verifies that dimensional tolerances are within acceptable criteria.

  • Prepares product for shipping per various packaging requirements.

  • Assists team mates as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum education of High School education or GED.

  • At least 18 years of age.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Detail-oriented candidates who have a demonstrated work history of shift work, in addition to working injury free and following work place/plant safety practices and procedures.

  • General knowledge and experience using various types of hand tools.

  • Basic computer and math skills.

  • Proficient in communicating in English language (both verbal and written).

  • Capable of lifting approximately 50 lbs. without an assist.

  • Capable of standing for long periods of time on concrete flooring.

  • Available to work rotating 12-hour shifts (including weekends and holidays).

  • Ability to work safely in a team-oriented environment.

Testing Requirements:

  • Pre-employment and on-going testing include: controlled substances, physical, background check, audiogram and vision.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Plastics extrusion process experience.

Rate Information

  • Wages are paid bi-weekly - 1st week is 36.75 hours, 2nd week will be 49 hours.

  • Starting Pay for this position is: $18.57/hr. with time and one-half (1.5) paid for hours worked after 40 hours in a week.

  • After completing a successful probationary period and 4 month demonstrated learning ability the rate increases to $19.03/hr. Employees are reviewed thereafter on a regular schedule for potential increases.

  • Potential for year-end bonus.

This is a great developmental opportunity for an individual to work with maintenance personnel, operations personnel, engineers and management to solve manufacturing problems related to troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing instrument, control and electrical systems. This role requires the ability to be on-call every other week, eligible for overtime and to participate in the 9/80 schedule (every other Monday off). Key Job Responsibilities: * Installs, diagnoses & repairs electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical components of industrial machinery and equipment. * Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment such as extruders, process tanks, conveyors, saws, programmable controllers, support equipment, etc. * Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as PLC's, transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables. * Tests malfunctioning machinery and discusses malfunction with other team members; repair the problem either by self or with other team members. * Replaces faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sensing devices. * Plans layout of wiring and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings. * Tests electronic components and circuits to locate defects. Replaces defective components and wiring and adjusts mechanical parts. Aligns, adjusts, and calibrates equipment according to specifications. * Maintains records of repairs, calibrations, and tests. Enters information into computer to copy program from one electronic component to another, or to draw, modify or to store schematics. * Performs project work as assigned. Required Qualifications: * An Associate's degree with 1+ years of relative experience working with GE, Allen Bradley and/or Direct Logic PLCs. Or in lieu of an Associate's degree, a minimum education of High School diploma or GED, plus 10+ years of relative experience working with GE, Allen Bradley and/or Direct Logic PLCs. * A minimum of 1+ years of experience in manufacturing/industrial plant or equivalent environment. * A minimum of 1+ years of experience understanding and troubleshooting of 480VAC-24VDC. * Understands basic electrical drawings and schematics reading. * Familiar with PLC concepts and systems. * Experience with network and integrated mechanical concepts (mechanical machinery). * Understands analog instrumentation (thermocouples, transducers.) * Practical understanding of electrical safety, OSHA, NEC codes. * Ability to be on-call every other week. Preferred Qualifications: * Working knowledge of motor controls, VFD's, DC drives and process instrumentation. * Working knowledge of process systems, EG: Chillers, HVAC, Air and Water Distribution. * Hands on experience in designing, modifying, installing, commissioning and documentation of industrial control systems and sub-systems.
