Crawford Industries, now a part of Spartech, LLC has an opening for a Folder/Gluer Operator on our team in Crawfordsville, IN. The Crawfordsville operation of the organization specializes in extruding and converting flat plastic sheet. Plastic sheet may have graphics added and the die cut into license plates, the lamp shade used in veterinary clinics, signage, file folders, 3-ring binders, covers for school date books, for example. We reuse our scrap plastic whenever possible to create our environmentally friendly products. Come join our Die Cut team as they cut material to help create all kinds of products for our customers.

General Summary and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Sets up, operates, and coordinates the assigned support functions of the Omega folder/gluer, including the feeder, all primer and gluing spray functions, folding and deliver to produce the highest quality produce, both safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities to include:

  • Responsible for instructing crew members in proper methods and procedures and coordinating the efforts of the entire crew to achieve the most efficient use of time and machinery.
  • Understands and able to set up and adjust all electronic functions on the machine
  • Reads and understands the metric measurement system
  • Reads and understand the shop floor worksheet for each job assigned to ensure that the set-up and materials will yield the desired finished product
  • Follows appropriate schedules as directed by the immediate supervisor
  • Understands and accurately reads tape measure and gauging tools
  • Effectively uses various hand tools, supplied by the employer, associated with the operation of the equipment
  • Understands the overall mechanics and general maintenance requirements of the assigned equipment.
  • Works with process engineer, sale representative and/or control center to ensure jobs are processed correctly
  • Accurately reports all direct and indirect labor activities
  • Fills out quality HIP forms correctly and accurately
  • Maintains good housekeeping in personal work area
  • Follows all safety and plant rules

Requirements

Required Skills/Experience:

  • High School diploma or experience demonstrating equivalent skills and abilities.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience working on similar equipment
  • Basic math skills
  • Able to read and use a tape measure and micrometer
  • Able to use hand tools
  • Has good general mechanical skills
  • Able to use a hand truck to move materials
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time

This position reports to the Production Supervisor.
