Plant/Area

Dow has exciting job opportunities for Production Operator in Kendallville, IN in the Silicone Rubber manufacturing facility.

Job Summary:

Do you prefer a manufacturing role where you are able to work as an independent contributor on an empowered team? In this role, you will work with a diverse product slate such that no two subsequent days are generally the same. You will also be able to own your work while you safely produce and package high quality silicone rubber.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate extruders, conveyors, and other auxiliary equipment safely and efficiently according to procedures.

  • Perform product inspection such that you maintain exceptional quality for your customers.

  • Maintain a clean work environment to ensure the safety of yourself and your peers.

  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance/Reliability on customer issues and implementing corrective actions.

  • Complete training and attend safety meetings to enable your understanding of your work.

  • Communicate with a diverse team of logistics, maintenance and support staff.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • 1 or more years of experience in an operations role within a manufacturing/industrial environment.

  • Willing and able to work 2nd shift.

  • Able to read, write, and speak English.

  • Ability to work overtime as needed.

  • Valid U.S. Drivers license for the ability to operate forklift.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Minimum of an associates degree in Process Technology or related field or 4 years or more of Military training/experience
  • SAP experience.
  • PLC ( Programmable Logistics Controller) experience.

Willing and able to meet physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Lift, push, and pull up to 35 lbs. throughout the day, with potential to handle 5,000-10,000 lbs. per shift.

  • Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.

  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time.

  • Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to earplugs, goggles, hard hat and steel-toed shoes.

  • Work in an area with hazardous materials.

  • This role does involve elevated work greater than or equal to four feet above the ground

Understand and align business operations with job role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.</p><p>JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.</p><ul><li><p>Performs Make-Ready tasks: installs plates and washes blankets. Completes &quot;Make Ready Checklist&quot; by verifying copy check, scores, correct ink, bar code, repeat timing, print to cut, flexo register, die number, board grade, line clearance, etc.</p></li><li><p>Turns handles, pushes buttons or moves controls and levers to start / stop press and to manually set and adjust speed, temperature, ink flow, tension, and position and pressure tolerances of press</p></li><li><p>Loads, positions, and adjusts raw material (paperboard) in loading and feeding mechanisms of press</p></li><li><p>Set up and operates splicing device to splice end of new paper roll to depleted roll</p></li><li><p>Installs, adjusts, dismantles, reassembles, removes parts and equipment (printing plates, blankets, rollers, dies, cylinders, etc) using various hand tools and measuring devices such as wrenches (Allen, open-end, socket, torque, crescent), channel lock, pliers, hammer, screwdrivers, pry bar, tape measure, and calipers.</p></li><li><p>Performs preventative maintenance</p></li><li><p>Moves materials and fixtures (paperboard rolls, dies, repeats, etc) using fork truck, overhead crane, pallet jack, and hand cart; must obtain fork truck licensure</p></li><li><p>Dip ink into ink fountains of the printing unit</p></li><li><p>Monitors and controls operation of auxiliary equipment such as cutters, UV lights, delivery table, etc.</p></li><li><p>Monitors feeding, printing, and delivery processes of press to maintain specified operating levels and detect malfunctions</p></li><li><p>Inspects and examines printed products for print clarity, color accuracy, conformance to specifications and external defects such as scum, hickeys, ink drips, and water spots.</p></li><li><p>Palletize printed product</p></li><li><p>Discards non-conforming material</p></li><li><p>Computer Data Entry: Inputs order number to print load tickets. Scans in load ticket and batch number. Enters quantity and scrap code (reason). Enters downtime.
