Talley Metals, a subsidiary of Carpenter Technology Corporation in Hartsville, South Carolina, is a mini-mill supplying a variety of sizes and specifications of high-quality round, square and hexagonal stainless steel bars for distribution. Carpenter acquired Talley in 1997 to increase manufacturing capacity within the corporation's core Specialty Alloys Operations division.

PRODUCTION OPERATOR I

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Assists in the banding, wiring, and removal of the bar/coil as it comes off the line.

  • Applies identification tags to bar/coil and stamps appropriate ID on end of bar.

  • Uses forklift or overhead crane to remove bar/coil to the appropriate staging area.

  • Insures that supplies used on the finish end are available, such as wire used to tie the bar/coil and bands and staples to supply the banding guns.

  • Under direction of a more senior employee, learns and applies inspection procedures and techniques used to insure the quality of the product.

  • Removes scrap from the area and segregates it by grade.

  • Responsible for general housekeeping of the finish end of the roll mill.

  • Assists mill adjusters during changeovers.

  • REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally

  • Ability to work in environment with loud noises and mobile equipment

Job Summary To support and help lead the efforts of the Planning team in meeting business objectives and exceeding customer expectations.   Responsibilities/Duties: * Effectively create a comprehensive master production schedule which considers order fill, water supply, preventive maintenance, sanitation and line load opportunities daily. * Serve as the focal point for all departments for all communications associated with the master schedule, on-time delivery, production capacity and sales forecasts based on the master production schedule. * Continual and proactive communications with production, sales, and supply chain teams, respond to and keep each informed of potential problems and opportunities related to forecasted and non-forecasted orders and recommend alternatives and process improvements. * Provide daily/weekly analysis and metrics for production attainment, on-time delivery, order fill, capacity & planning, production constraints and work-arounds. * Establish and implement effective strategies to manage inventory levels at internal and external warehouses. * Work with Raw Material Planner to align material requirements with manufacturing capabilities, capacity and suppliers. * Maintain SAP master data for production priorities, supply areas etc. * Act as the Planning representation at the daily operations meeting and determine production priorities. * Managing communications through the total business on warehouse space planning and projections for utilization. * Provide the daily update for all on current schedules, all process order management in SAP and the after hour directives for the night shift teams to execute. * Develop training guides, process changes, and SOP's as needed. * Other duties as assigned by Planning Management Team. Requirements: * Ability to handle multiple people and projects in a fast-paced environment * Excellent communication and organization skills * Must be able to tactfully accept and resolve challenges from multiple departments. * Strong SAP knowledge, specifically Production Planning module. * Computer skills; Microsoft Office, Word, Power Point & strong Excel skills required. * Ability to work independently and in a team environment. * Must be flexible in working hours – overtime, vacation coverage, taking calls after hours and off-shifts.
