Vishay Dale in Columbus, NE is currently seeking a full-time Production Material Handler responsible for drawing necessary materials from stock, preparing materials if necessary and furnishing materials to the operators within the department. Assists the Supervisor in increasing line efficiency by insuring that materials are in place promptly, assisting in the training of new employees, managing orders through the line in proper sequence and working on the production line on occasion to assist in breaking material banks or operating key machines during operator breaks. Assists in the hazardous waste collection in area of responsibility.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Understands all processes and specifications within the department and reports to Supervisor any discrepancies in line specifications.

  • Surveys material needs of production line, schedules the withdrawal of necessary materials from stock, prepares materials for manufacturing if necessary and furnishes materials to department operators as needed.

  • Assists Supervisor in managing the line flow of orders including expediting, filling in at any work position as necessary or operating key machines during operator breaks. Reports any excessive work banks at line positions to Supervisor.

  • Assists Supervisor in the instruction and training of line workers, monitors worker's technique and makes recommendations for improvement. Reports to Supervisor any problems or difficulties encountered by the production workers in their operation, materials or equipment.

  • Moves in-process products from one workstation to another and finished product to shipping.

  • Reports any machine breakdowns to the Supervisor and/or maintenance, and reports any tool shortages or tools in need of repair.

  • Assists in the monitoring of the collection and handling of waste chemicals to insure that chemicals are not mixed.

  • Brings to the Supervisor's attention any questions, misunderstandings or issues of line personnel.

  • Answers routine questions of line workers regarding company policies, procedures, benefits or programs and refers other than routine questions to the Supervisor or to Human Resources.

  • Runs queries on the computer to determine manufacturing priorities. Must learn to use in-house developed software.

  • Performs tasks assigned by the Supervisor that are unique to a specific line or are required due to a special situation. (Examples may be setting up machines, checking subassemblies, taking inventory.)

  • Assists the Supervisor in monitoring and controlling line safety, insuring that machine guarding is in place, required safety equipment is in use and safety procedures are followed.

  • Various hand tools, computers and manufacturing equipment such as coil winders, reel packers, test equipment, etc.

Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent. Three months to one year experience required. Initial hazardous waste management procedures (RCRA) training within six months of the appointment of position dealing with hazardous waste and subsequent annual refresher thereafter. Initial emergency contingency plan implementation training within six months of the appointment of position dealing with hazardous waste and subsequent annual refresher thereafter.

Vishay Dale in Columbus, NE is currently seeking a full time Material Handler responsible for pulling packages and sending various raw materials, machinery, supplies, etc. to all Plants in Columbus, Mexico and Israel. Receives raw materials, machinery, supplies, data storage, Marcom materials, recycling materials, etc. and places such materials in the proper place within the storage facility. Computer knowledge of the Dale Legacy System is imperative and is used to monitor inventories with an extreme importance on accuracy. SAP knowledge is also required at the receiving position. Operation of company vehicles, forklifts, pallet jacks, floor sweeper, recycling compactors is required. More than normal amount of manual labor is involved with loading and unloading semi's all day long in an environment that is not air-conditioned. Primary Responsibilities: * Understands all processes and specification within the department and reports to Supervisor any discrepancies in line specifications. * Receives orders from all Columbus locations via phone or email and pulls, packages, loads and delivers raw materials etc. to all Plants in Columbus. Receives raw materials, spare parts, etc. from outside vendors and distributes said material to the proper locations within Vishay. * Receives orders from Mexico, Israel and other Vishay locations via Inventory Control Personnel. Pulls, Packages, Prepares necessary paperwork and sends the same material via various trucking carriers. * Loads and unloads semi tractor trailers much of the day placing the raw materials, etc. in their proper place using forklifts, pallets jacks, manual labor, etc. * Reports any machine breakdowns to the Supervisor and/or maintenance, and reports any tool shortages or tools in need of repair. Performs daily checks on company vehicles and forklift to assure everything is running properly. Reports any safety concerns to Supervisor. * Picks up a significant amount of recycling materials on a daily basis and prepares the same for pickup by reclaim companies. * Brings to the Supervisor's attention any questions, concerns, misunderstandings or attitude problems of line personnel. * Must be prepared for various audit situations regarding Quality, and Environmental Audits. * Computers are used constantly for location, inventory level and maintaining accuracy of raw materials available. Knowledge of the Dale Mainframe Legacy System is mandatory. SAP is also required at receiving. * Performs tasks assigned by the Supervisor that are unique to a specific situation. (Examples may be setting up pallet racking, reorganization of facility, preparing for auctions, inventory checks, housekeeping, etc. * Assists the Supervisor in monitoring Safety! Performs necessary daily checks of all forklifts, electric pallets jacks and company vehicles. Participates in correcting safety concerns and reports any of those concerns to Supervisor. * Equipment Utilization: Computers, Large Company Vehicles (Delivery Trucks), Forklifts, Pallet Jacks, Sweeper, Compactors Requirements Through knowledge of all necessary equipment, processes, materials and computer programs. Good interpersonal and communication skills in order to work in harmony with all necessary Vishay personnel. Good organization and multi tasking skills in order to monitor and control a variety of different activities at the same time. Ability to understand verbal or email instructions from Supervisor and other Vishay personnel constantly adjust to different demands. High School diploma or equivalent. Three months up to one year of experience. Must satisfactorily complete annual HazWoper training. Initial hazardous waste management procedures (RCRA) training within six months of the appointment of position dealing with hazardous waste and subsequent annual refresher thereafter.
