Mission Foods in Pueblo, CO is seeking someone who is responsible to ensure the operation of the production department meets the stands in Quality, Safety, Food Safety, Cost and is delivered on time and complete to the warehouse. The Production Manager ensures the headcount requirements are met and that a good working atmosphere is maintained.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and follow-up plans to accomplish departmental goals and objectives as per budget.

  • Conduct annual performance appraisals for shift supervisors.

  • Perform safety and sanitation audits.

  • Collaborate in the developments of the department budget and productivity parameters once per year.

  • Elaborate written reports for management.

  • Deliver oral presentations as requested.

  • Participate as an active member in the safety, quality and food safety committees.

  • Attend all scheduled meetings.

  • Verify all materials required for the operation of the department including safety equipment.

  • Enforce all company policies, procedures, and regulations.

  • Conduct training sessions for the department employees as needed.

  • Develop and implement improvements and changes in the work instructions, job descriptions and training needs.

  • Must be able to keep administrative paperwork current regarding schedules, inspections, inventories, and management reports.

  • Recommending the hiring of personnel and overseeing of special job training.

  • Keep employees informed on factors relating to their work assignments, work progress, and opportunity for advancement.

  • Evaluating, as deemed necessary by the company, the performance of introductory employees, regular employees, and employees who are being terminated.

  • Schedule vacations of productions supervisors.

  • Establish and maintain productivity standards.

  • Ensure Departmental budgets are developed and met.

  • Responsible for providing a safe environment for department employees.

  • Responsible to produce the necessary resources to ensure the effective operation of the production department.

  • Participate as a member of the safety committee, perform accident reviews and investigations as well as any other special safety assignments.

  • Responsible to ensure the safety and food training is conducted by supervisors.

  • Maintain a good working atmosphere.

  • Address, as needed, employee relations issues.

  • Develop and implement cost reduction/methos improvements projects.

  • Evaluates product quality internally through taste panels and quality scoring, and externally through market tours.

  • In the absence of the Plant Manager the Production Manger will assume the responsibilities of the Plant Manager.

Supervisory Responsibility:

Directly supervise five to six Production Supervisors. Indirectly supervise all production employees.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements list below are representative of the knowledge, trainings, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Knowledge of Basics Statistics required.

  • Knowledge in Food Safety, HACP and Safety Polices.

  • Leadership skills

  • Develop long-term plans and programs and to evaluate work accomplishments.

  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with other management staff, employees, and the general public.

  • Computer knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel, SAP, Kronos).

  • Respond to inquiries of complaints from executives or employees, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.

  • Knowledge in GMP Practices

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts, Apply concepts such as fractions and percentages.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in engineering, Business Administration, Baking, Food Science, Chemistry, or related life science required. Five to ten years of experience in food manufacturing/processing.

Language Skills:

Bilingual English/Spanish

Work Environment:

Work is typically performed walking (50%), sitting (20%), standing (30%). Exerting up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard about the ambient noise level.

Salary: $75,400-97,900 a year plus $7,000 Target Bonus
