JOB SUMMARY: The Production Manager will coordinate and manage all plant production activities in conjunction with Program Managers for their respective programs. Production Manager will coordinate with Supervisors to properly execute the production plan by meeting or exceeding the lines Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity goals. The Production Manager will also coordinate with Human Resources on recruitment, development, and retention of production personnel. Production Supervisors will report to the Production Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead by example and enforce all plant safety and quality standards.

  • Direct, train, and mentor the production supervisors.

  • Plan, coordinate, direct, and follow through to completion the manufacture or assembly of products in accordance with program schedules and financial goals established by the applicable Program Manager.

  • Execute, in coordination with Human Resources, plantwide training plans and ensure all operators are appropriately trained.

  • Monitor and support plant production during off shift hours.

  • Coordinate with engineering on the layout of new production buildings and processes.

  • Promote lean manufacturing initiatives.

  • Ensure plant cleanliness and 5S goals are met

  • Ensure all preventative maintenance is done on time while meeting product delivery schedules.

  • Ensure all production lines are operating at planned yield, throughput, and touch labor levels.

  • Manage all operational staffing levels by maintaining the Staffing Forecast Spreadsheet forecasting supervisor, team lead, and operator hiring needs by program.

  • Schedule operators in accordance with production needs limiting indirect labor costs.

  • Initiate and implement improvement efforts aimed at improving the lines safety, quality, delivery, and costs.

  • Work with production supervisors to maintain program production data files.

  • Collaborate with HR and production supervisors in promoting and disciplining operators.

  • Lead corrective action activities and follow up on corrective action plans to correct operational deficiencies in a timely manner.

  • Responsible for maintaining compliance with all Federal, State, and local regulatory agencies related to the operations of the plant.

  • Maintain adherence to Company policies and procedures, safety and environmental standards, and good housekeeping practices.

  • Maintain good employee relations, and adherence to Affirmative Action Plan, Labor Laws, and EEO rules and regulations.

  • Perform other duties as directed.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • B.S. Degree (or higher) and 5 years of supervision experience or minimum of 10 years of production operations management experience

  • Strong analytical and reasoning abilities

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills

  • Good organizational skills

  • Good communication skills, both written and oral

  • Results oriented

  • Sound administrative skills

  • Well-developed management skills and principles

  • Safety Mindedness

  • A minimum of five years' experience in responsible management position within a manufacturing environment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Ability to submit to and pass a drug test pursuant to Company Drug-Free Workforce Policy, which includes random testing

  • Must have good vision (may be corrected)

  • Must have no known hearing loss

  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time

  • Ability to walk, bend and stoop

  • Must have stamina to work more than the scheduled workday when needed, including evenings and weekends

  • Ability to pick up, handle and work with papers

  • Must have a valid driver's license in good standing and the ability to travel frequently, including international locations
