PRIMARY FUNCTION
Develop, execute, and maintain plans for all production-related activities required to continually meet departmental targets including goal setting, issue identification and resolution, resource management, and succession planning.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Develop, maintain, and monitor departmental metrics and take appropriate action based on results
Determine and maintain appropriate departmental staffing consistent with business objectives
Implement systems of communication to ensure the required information flows both within the department as well as to/from support functions
Ensure production personnel consistently comply with all safety, quality and process requirements
Evaluate individual staff performance and provide feedback on a regular basis
Partner with other Department Managers to implement continuous improvement initiatives in the areas of safety, quality, efficiency and cost
Sustain departmental area improvements while monitoring established activities and processes
Balance resources to maximize departmental productivity
Resolve production issues that adversely affect departmental performance
Resolve employee grievances
Interpret and enforce all company policies and procedures
Perform general duties as assigned and assist in other areas as workload requires
REQUIRED SKILLS
Two years' experience in a manufacturing environment OR a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Results-driven with a focus to exceed goals and objectives
Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization, both verbally and in writing
Ability to counsel and coach employees
Ability to effectively collaborate with all functions in the organization
Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment
Experience managing direct reports
Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and project management software
PREFERRED SKILLS
Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
Experience with SAP
