Production Manager

  • Develop and implement manufacturing schedules and procedures and allocate labor and capital resources to maximize productivity and minimize disruptions (budgets, schedule and planning)

  • Direct, evaluate, and develop a team of supervisors who are responsible for various production activities such as assembly, machine operation, processing, or packaging.

  • Analyze production, maintenance, and malfunction records to identify problems and recommend solutions that will improve performance

  • Liaise with functional or operational managers (for example in supply and logistics, or sales) to understand their current and future product needs and develop plans, cost estimates, and schedules for integrating these needs into existing manufacturing activities

  • Supports and creates effective teams, units, and environments.

  • Impacts and promotes organizational strategy and vision.

  • Helps employees understand how they impact business strategy as well as leading coaching and providing effective feedback to them.

  • Ensures quality control standards are not violated.

  • Participates in continuous improvement efforts. Supports and helps to implement new ideas.

  • Knows and follows all safety requirements; strives to maintain a safe work environment.

  • Effectively gives and receives feedback.

Job Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree required plus 7-10 years related work experience


  • Minimum 5 years manufacturing experience

Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Performs detailed tasks requiring high math skills.

  • Performs tasks requiring effective communication skills

  • Possesses the ability to use the computer system for departmental functions.

  • Must be able to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds

The Assistant Supervisor is responsible for pack out or pour end on the manufacturing floor. They will set the example for respectful leadership and cooperation and assists in motivating employees to achieve work goals. Must have extensive hands-on experience in Manufacturing Operations. Excellent people skills combined with solid technical knowledge. Assist the Manufacturing Supervisor in the development and management of multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Manage permanent and temporary employees in the pack out or pour end zones. Focus on safety, quality, productivity, cost reduction, continuous improvement and 5S. First-hand experience with modern manufacturing methodology including Lean Manufacturing. This will include but not limited to staffing, training, achieving efficiency standards, insuring a quality product is produced, and achieving scheduled completion dates. Will be responsible for 5S and continuous improvement activities on their respective lines and will provide support for department and site 5S and continuous improvement efforts.</p><p><strong>Job Functions:</strong></p><ul> <li>Insures a safe work environment by communicating safety requirements, auditing, tracking and providing feedback and corrective actions to employees and management. Participate in safety meetings/evaluations.</li> <li>Supervises teams of employees in a process environment in the manufacturing of candles and home fragrance products.</li> <li>Will be expected to be a team member of the supervisory and management staff; chairing meetings, offering opinions, supporting initiatives and treating co-workers with respect.</li> <li>Will establish and/or participate in the creation of schedules and insure timely completion of commitments. Will be responsible for early detection of barriers to achieving schedule and providing work arounds and solutions. Will establish priorities; monitor progress; revise production schedules; resolve problems and report results on shift production.</li> <li>Work with engineering to establish efficiency standards and measures performance to targets, tracks, reports, conducts root cause analysis, and corrective actions to maintain and improve efficiencies. Will be challenged with improving efficiencies of line production.</li> <li>Will organize and conduct skills assessments and coordinate training to promote learning and address gaps in capabilities. Cross training will be a key component.</li> <li>Will be accountable for the accurate accounting of materials while in the care of manufacturing and the timely return of those materials to stores if not consumed in the packing process.</li> <li>Will collect data, craft metrics, monitor trends and report to management on the health and well-being of manufacturing.</li> <li>Will work with the pack out leads as well as the wax department to ensure smooth start-ups and shut downs.</li> <li>Will be responsible for conducting carry over meetings between shifts to ensure critical and pertinent information is passed between shifts.</li> <li>Will be responsible to communicate equipment issues to maintenance and monitor timely completions of repairs and improvements.</li> <li>Maintains product quality. Work to identify defects and provide root cause and corrective actions as required.</li> <li>Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and personnel requirements. Goal is to streamline and sustain change.</li> <li>Responsible for evaluation and updating of work order closure and work order reports.</li> <li>Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of 5S. Conducts 5S audits and communicates issues and corrective actions to teams. Will be the 5S champion in manufacturing. Expectations are to constantly be observing and promote changes and improvements and sustain 5S.</li> <li>Consults with the Manufacturing Supervisor and Manufacturing Manager and Human Resources to resolve personnel and staffing issues.
