As the Production Manager, you will lead and mentor our assembly team as we scale our ability to manufacture and deliver our Spot and Stretch robot fleets to customers worldwide. Work with Demand Planning monthly to develop or modify Production Plans. Every day you will coordinate with your team to establish priorities, and you will collaborate with planning, procurement, manufacturing engineering, engineering and quality teams to remove blockers, and define best practices to continuously improve our manufacturing process predictability. In this role you will be accountable for the implementation and execution of the production plan, ensuring we have adequate manpower required to meet our production commitments.
Day to day activities:
Lead a diverse manufacturing team comprised of supervisors, team leads (TLs) and assembly technicians with the goal of maximizing each individual's potential
Develop a safety first mindset and practices for the entire team
Foster an environment where continuous improvement is encouraged and expected
Work with manufacturing engineering and quality to develop processes that make problems readily visible
Organize and lead efforts to swarm and eliminate problems as they arise
Create and manage the daily priority task lists for your assembly team members
Ensure production schedules are communicated and tracked
Capture production metrics and drive root cause and corrective action as needed when targets are missed
Work closely with Fulfillment to ensure all customer requirements are met
Establish and maintain effective systems on the production floor to meet demands in the most efficient manner. Work to identify and reduce inefficiencies.
Ensure your team executes work orders and other ERP transactions correctly and in a timely fashion
Establish an effective training program, ensure minimum training and skill levels are defined and assessed across the team. Drive continuous improvement in employee skills to enable flexibility across the entire operation.
Establish production floor policies and best practices and enforce them across the assembly team as well as support personnel (5S, work hours, food and drink, apparel, etc).
Desired skills:
10+ years of leadership experience in a production management role
Experience managing teams in the areas of assembling, reworking, and testing electromechanical assemblies
Solid understanding of production planning and inventory management best practices
Familiarity with ERP and PLM systems
Firm grasp of Lean Manufacturing processes
Demonstrated ability to build cultures that foster respect and accountability
Driven to identify and eliminate waste throughout the production process
