POSITION PURPOSE The Customer Assurance Engineer functions as the front line in resolution of customer perceived and reported issues with equipment in the field. He/she serves as the internal advocate to develop and execute corrective action plans, and engage the organization to make improvements to the product and processes. The Customer Assurance Engineer provides superior customer service and is the voice of the customer to BAC, providing data for the feedback process into the organization to understand and improve customer satisfaction.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Lead the technical evaluation of customer reported issues with equipment in the field. Determine and drive corrective action plans to resolve these issues. Proactively communicate ongoing status and corrective action plans to representatives and customers.

Consistently collect data required to support root cause identification of product failures and drive continuous improvement into the products and processes. Utilize appropriate feedback methods to communicate customer perception into the organization. Ensure customer satisfaction through quick follow up to problems/ customer concerns, good root cause analysis, & complete feedback.

Participate in and lead continuous improvement projects. Project types range from upstream processes, to manufacturing processes, to supplier performance. Support and drive organizational and department metrics, focus on process improvements within daily activities.

Prepare reports as necessary or requested to show performance to plans. Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required. Participate in programs essential to BAC culture, e.g., behavior based safety, housekeeping, continuous improvement, security, and compliance to all legal and ethical standards.

Compliance to all local, regional, national, company, and all other applicable standards, laws, and procedures. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or other technical degree with significant coursework in engineering or manufacturing principals is required.

Experience or training in DMAIC or other quality improvement tools is desirable. 3 5 years of working experience with mechanical products and with construction and installation of mechanical equipment is required.

Experience with commercial/industrial HVAC/R equipment is preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of motors, controls, and electronics and be able to troubleshoot them. Technical expertise must be complemented by self-motivation, relationship building skills, effective communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information in layman's terms, and the ability to effectively work in a fast-paced environment.

Quality orientation and high attention to detail, strong customer service focus (internal or external customers). Ability to interface with other departments and resolve complex problems in an efficient and timely manner. Experience operating in an ISO9001 environment. Working knowledge of ERP systems and basic Office programming.

Must be flexible and able to adapt quickly to change. NATURE & SCOPE The Customer Assurance Engineer reports to the Manager of Customer Assurance. This role will have interactions with all areas and levels within the organization, as well as customers and suppliers.

While focus is primarily in North America, global support is provided to all products manufactured in North America and shipped abroad. Mueller's manufacturing commitment ensures one of the world's most precious resources, clean drinking water, reaches millions of people on a daily basis. Come be a part of something that sustains and enriches the lives of every human being. The Hammond facility is Mueller's exclusive site for the fabrication of large industrial valves. Primary customer services performed include the fabrication of 60" and larger valves as well as pressure testing. Processing includes machining, welding, shot blasting, painting and assembly of a wide range of various designs. As the sole site Operations Manager, you would effectively plan and implement work for the facility ensuring parts, materials, and the work force are available for the shop to perform assigned duties. Additionally, you would coordinate with internal and external resources to ensure alignment with promised delivery dates. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager. Primary accountabilities include, but are not limited to the following: * Opening the facility for the start of the shift and closing/securing the facility at the end of the shift. * Plan and lead the activities of production processes and personnel. * Collaborate with the Production Planning, and Materials departments to establish production priorities and plans. * Direct production operations in accordance with established priorities and sequences for manufacturing products using knowledge of production processes and methods, machine and equipment capabilities and skilled labor. * Analyze production schedules to estimate work requirements for completion of job assignments and adjust to meet scheduled requirements. * Assist Quality Assurance and Manufacturing Engineering personnel in testing, troubleshooting and modifying processes to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of products. * Advise applicable personnel of production issues and offer suggestions for changes in working conditions, design, test, production procedures, and the use of equipment. * Meet or exceed goals established for safety, labor efficiencies, schedule attainment, scrap, rework, and any other production related goals. * Initiate, suggest, and implement plans to motivate, empower, and develop workers to achieve work goals in a team environment. * Supervise and assist in the setup, operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of various automated machines, assembly equipment and/or machining centers. * Implement lean techniques and principles such as 5S, standardized work, waste identification and elimination, value stream mapping, team based multi-skilled workforce, one-piece flow technology, visual factory concepts, and total productive maintenance. * Maintain Time and Attendance record keeping for payroll. * Conduct annual employee performance reviews. Required Qualifications: * Three or more (3+) years of direct supervisory experience in a manufacturing, machining, maintenance, or similar capacity. * Strong written and verbal communication skills. * Leadership in developing a culture within a TEAM environment. * Ability to successfully achieve goals through influence. * Strong analytical mindset. * Demonstrated ability to follow and challenge standard work processes on a daily basis. * Ability to adapt to system/technology changes as well as use of current systems. Desired Qualifications: * Prior valve manufacturing and/or repair experience. * Previous experience in the water distribution industry. * College degree. Overtime may be required to meet or exceed daily/monthly targets. The Operations Manager position is salaried exempt and does not qualify for overtime pay.
