SUMMARY

The incumbent is primarily responsible for planning, organizing, directing and controlling the activities of production department operations which also includes performance of all functions within the department.

All job duties are to be performed in accordance with the company's Principles of Ethical Business Conduct.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead, coach, mentor, motivate and inspire direct reports to achieve an optimum level of performance by consistently demonstrating role model behavior.

  • Plan and direct production activities and establish production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.

  • Coordinate production activities with warehouse, procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of machines and equipment.

  • Conduct Daily Production meeting.

  • Review and analyze quality, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, and operating or production problems.

  • Compiles, distributes, evaluates, and actions production metrics.

  • Develop and revise production schedules and priorities as a result of customer requirements, equipment failure, or operating problems.

  • Consult with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.

  • Identify and develop continuous improvements to production processes with the supervisors and Lead Lean expert.

  • Ensures process corrective actions are addressed in a timely manner and are effective, including conducting audits of effectiveness.

  • Ensure that supervisors are aware of and adhere to plan safety rules and regulations. Works with the supervisors to develop a safety culture with zero accidents/incidents.

  • Ensure that equipment is maintained and operated in a safe manner.

  • Maintain a clean environment that enhances plant safety. Conduct 5S audits. Ensure 5S audit actions are addressed in a timely manner and are effective.

  • Ensure that employees know and understand customer and quality requirements and standards.

  • Set the quality direction to maintain production throughput while meeting/ exceeding quality requirements.

  • Maintain employee awareness and adherence to ISO standards and procedures.

  • Lead successful output of site production operations and achievement of operational goals.

  • Set goals for employees throughout and/or department standards.

  • Evaluate and provide training as needed, setting in place a long-term training strategy.

  • Evaluate equipment needs and propose changes to meet site objectives.

  • Assign employees to work schedules, work centers, and plan appropriate levels based on production needs and capacity.

  • Troubleshoot processes and/or procedures.

  • Review site operations goals with department employees.

  • Conduct annual performance reviews for direct reports in a timely manner. Recommend increases in compensation in accordance with pre-determined guidelines.

  • Ensures that all aspects of the Quality Policy and Objectives as well as OSHA rules and regulations are understood and enacted.

  • Participate in and satisfactorily complete all required training programs for the assigned position.

  • Perform other duties assigned by management representatives within the scope of responsibility and the requirements of the job.

Required Skills

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's or Associate's degree from a college or university and at least 5 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent interpersonal communications skills are required as well as personal computer proficiency with Microsoft Office software to include Excel, Mail, Word, PowerPoint and the use of Internet Explorer. Capability in MS Access and Visio would be a plus.

The Component Technician is responsible for performing technical/mechanical/inspection functions pertaining to the aircraft wheel and brake component overhaul process. Primary Responsibilities: * Conducts receiving inspection of in-coming assemblies/components in accordance with established procedures and technical data. * Performs disassembly, wash, blast, paint, build-up, pressure test, receiving inspection and final inspection and assembly of aircraft components according to customer's specifications, airworthiness directives, applicable manufacturers' CMM guidelines and operating procedures. * Manual handling and maneuvering (rolling, lifting) of large aircraft wheels and brakes. * Maintains proper segregation and identification of components in progress. * Maintains current knowledge of and complies with customer/Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)/Joint Aviation Administration (JAA) technical data as applicable to the work assigned * Performs painting functions including mixing of primer/paint as well as the application of primer/paint. * Performs general shop and equipment maintenance; practices the principles of the Five Ss by creating and maintaining a neat, orderly work area; identifies ways to remove non-value added steps from all processes and strives to produce products in the least-waste-way. * Consistently demonstrates a commitment to continuous process improvement and practices; actively participates and supports process improvement events. * Looks for ways to eliminate safety hazards and improve the overall safety of the workplace. * Provides limited training to other Component Technicians, where qualified. * Performs other duties or responsibilities as assigned. * This position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with FAA Guidelines. Candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing per FAA's regulation 14 CFR part 120, as well as 49 CFR part 40. * Works in a repair and overhaul shop environment. * Continuous standing and walking. * Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds.
