Summary-Under some direct supervision the Maintenance Technician II is an intermediate level position and is responsible for conducting machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs and preventive maintenance service with average efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following with some assistance from the Maintenance Manager, and Leads:

  • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.

  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical and electrical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.

  • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.

  • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.

  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.

  • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.

  • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.

  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.

  • Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.

  • Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.

  • Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.

  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.

  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

  • Small building, lighting, and plumping repairs for Facility.

  • Must be able to work flexible hours including over time as needed.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience-High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Certificate from a vocational school in maintenance technology preferred; and 2 5 years of related experience.

Regular Shift: Monday

  • Friday 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (May be required to work outside of the regular shift days/hours according to business needs)

Summary: Maintenance Technician II is responsible for safely performing a wide range of maintenance and electrical duties to emergency and preventative repairs to plant machinery and infrastructure. The Maintenance Technician II responds to the needs of the production supervisor in the event of an unplanned production line breakdown. The Maintenance Technician II effectively utilizes manpower and equipment to complete repairs in a timely manner, thereby contributing to the productivity and customer satisfaction. The Maintenance Technician II will need to provide their own tools. The candidate will be able to effectively utilize cutting and welding equipment, handling equipment, blueprints, sketches, PLC Ladders, wiring diagrams, and manuals. This candidate must also have knowledge of maintenance on overhead cranes and be able to trouble shoot and repair. The Maintenance Technician II must be organized and strive to keep and clean and clutter free work area. Working knowledge of 5S / 6S is preferred. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: * Responsible for safely performing emergency and preventative repairs to plant machinery and infrastructure. * Responsible for responding to work instructions from the Maintenance Group Leader, respond to emergency or breakdown calls. Diagnosing problems, dismantling and replacing defective or worn parts, testing of all repairs after replacement before turning over to the machine operator. * Responsible for performing assigned preventive maintenance, cut weld and fabricate as needed on projects. * Responsible for electrical work with proper PPE in accordance with rules and regulations set forth by OSHA and NFPA 70E (National Electrical Code). * Responsible for responding to the needs of the production supervisor in the event of an emergency breakdown. Effectively utilizes manpower and equipment to complete repairs in a timely manner. * Responsible for the cleanup of Maintenance and work areas where repairs are performed. * Responsible for the safe and prudent use of company equipment and tools. Also, ensures a safe work environment by utilizing Lock-out/Tag-out procedures and reporting any unsafe condition. * Reports to the Maintenance Group Leader or Production Leader during off-shifts and weekends. * Other duties include but are not limited to, plumbing, concrete work, digging and climbing to elevated heights and/ or working in high temperature area and confined spaces. * Communicates daily with internal personnel from Production and Quality Control in order to assist in resolving problems and achieving company goals. * Work from instructions, maintenance requests, and/or respond to emergency or breakdown calls.
