A Machine Operator position is available with an manufacturing client in Columbus, IN. This position will perform various production-related duties including operating multiple plastic injection molding presses, off bearing, and assembly. Production Operators must be self-motivated and able multitask. This position is expected to interact effectively and communicate effectively with all levels of plant personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure productivity and scheduling targets are adhered to

  • Construct , stage, and remove packaging materials

  • Operate multiple plastic injection molding presses efficiently and safely

  • Document and maintain production information manually and electronically

  • Perform visual quality inspections of all products

  • Work with other company personnel to resolve inspection issues and answer any questions regarding quality and compliance of products

  • Must be able to assist in training of other employees on operation of machinery, job responsibilities, and quality inspection

  • Identify inspection errors and communicate problems with appropriate Company resources (Quality, Maintenance, Operations, etc.)

  • Communicate to management and others as appropriate of inspection failures and/or out of tolerances/specifications situations

  • Detect and report improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials and questionable conditions to proper supervision

  • Maintain work area(s) and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe condition

  • Must be able to complete all jobs with minimal supervisor during designated shift

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area through general housekeeping and 5S activities

  • Perform other related duties as required or directed by management.

Preferred Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years in an manufacturing/production setting

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and entering information into a production database

  • Thorough working knowledge of audit and corrective action processes

  • Work well in a team environment, have excellent written and verbal communication skills

Other Requirements:

  • Must be available for overtime and weekend work as needed.

  • Must have great attendance record.

Educational Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED

Vishay Dale in Columbus, NE is currently seeking a full-time Production Machine Operator responsible for operating and tending all types of production machines. Primary Responsibilities: * Operates and tends all types of production machines such as several different types of punch presses and feed systems, 4 slide machines, cut-off saws, deburring machines, drill presses and lathes to produce production parts of various metals to include steel, aluminum copper and other resistive materials, as well as some non-metallic materials. * Receives work assignments in the form of blueprint, technical specification, sketch or drawing from Supervisor / Production Coordinator as to type of parts that are to be produced. May consult with Supervisor / Coordinator regarding completeness of the specifications, prints, or sketches and to set up proper tooling, stock feeders, or whatever required for proper machine to produce part. * Set-up stamping line per specifications and ensure all raw materials are present and correct. When appropriate advise die makers of the set-up required for the product you will be running. This may involve the use of any or all the equipment described above. * At completion of set-up, run an appropriate sample and ensure inspection is performed as required by the appropriate specification. Run products as assigned. Operate manual feed presses and/or RH lines if assigned per appropriate specification. * Loads coil stock material onto de-reeler and starts coil stock into dies at proper place as to insure proper tool care. * Loads material onto stock feeder reel. When lead frame parts are made, and parts are put onto take-up reels with interleave paper. * Ensure all finished stock is properly packaged labeled and ultimately packaged and ready to send to your customer, after Quality acceptance. * Qualified operator and collateral inspector, if assigned to lead-frame production lines. * Disperses material from stock as required. * Maintains continuous visual inspection for imperfect parts and intermittently makes inspections of parts using micrometer, calipers, or inspection gauges. Ensures all materials and tools are used effectively. * Provides and maintains scrap control. * Identifies to Supervisor or Lead-person any specification, equipment, or material shortcomings. Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. A familiarity with punch presses, pressroom terminology, equipment, and processes, normally obtained in working at least 3 months to 1 year in a similar work situation. Must be able to accurately identify different types of raw materials. Must also be able to compute material and finished product counts using basic math skills and a calculator. Must be able to handle and occasionally lift up to 60 pounds as well as manipulate a wide size and weight range of metal stock and related materials. Must be able to stand for prolonged periods and remain on feet for most of the workday. Safety Glasses and Hearing protection are required throughout the shop. Depending on you assignment you may also be required to use appropriate gloves for material handling and appropriate protective clothing if working in the tumbling area or assisting in the Mold Compound room. If assisting in the mold compound room, you must be able to wear a respirator and be respirator trained. Works in a busy pressroom environment, subject at times to noise, vibration, sharp work materials and tools, and moving equipment and machinery. May work under conditions of varying lighting levels and in restrictive workspaces. This position requires access to information subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and/or the Export Administration Regulations.
