Job Overview

This position is responsible for general production activities throughout different seasons during the year. This will include, but not limited to, receiving soybean seed during harvest, conditioning/treating soybean seed, warehousing/shipping, and equipment maintenance. Critical to this position is the ability to lead/train/supervise seasonal workers, agency workers and full-time employees while performing production activities. This position will work in partnership with the location team to ensure production and safety goals are accomplished.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist and lead safety programs.

  • Assist and lead training of seasonal workers, agency workers and full-time employees.

  • Assist in field operations and scouting.

  • Coordinate, lead and monitor operations for a single shift.

  • Operate and calibrate seed conditioning/treating equipment.

  • Operate packaging equipment.

  • Manage a packaging/shipping crew.

  • Warehouse finished product and supplies, including checking for accuracy.

  • Lead maintenance and troubleshooting of plant equipment.

  • Facilitate, communicate and maintain relationships with outside vendors, contactors and seed growers.

  • Complete all paperwork/reports in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Cross train on all plant operations and multiple office duties.

  • Perform duties assigned to meet company quality standards including: maintenance, housekeeping, and safety.

  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality, customer service and professionalism.

  • Other duties as assigned verbally and/or in writing.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate's degree or higher required.

  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture field preferred or a minimum of 3 years of seed production experience.

  • Certified Crop Advisor desired.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Excellent organizational and record keeping skills.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks meet deadlines.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint preferred) and common PC-based software.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.

  • Ability to work assigned hours and shifts including overtime.

  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in hot, cold, wet, and dry conditions.

  • Ability to walk seed fields, up to 5 miles/day.

  • Must have a valid driver's license and meet MVR guidelines.

With leadership direction, the Lead Consultant may provide direction to the Consultant and solve escalated customer issues General Duties and Responsibilities (This is a representative list of the general duties the position may be asked to perform, and is not intended to be all-inclusive) * Demonstrates consultative behaviors to ensure friendly, polite, expert service is delivered to all customers * Manages production flow to ensure all production orders are done right and on time * Takes customer orders, giving pricing information, performs consultative selling to customers, and and recommends FedEx Office products and services tracks and logs all production jobs * Takes lead responsibility for digital imaging, scheduling and running black and white or color production on full service orders, including finishing services and large job management * Sets up complex orders and performs multiple tasks at the same time * Responsible for ensuring quality during and after production process * Ensures communication among shifts * Coordinates pick-up and delivery of customer orders * May provide leadership to team members on an assigned shift * Assists in the training of store team members * Collates, sorts and organizes customer orders * Operates the Point of Sale terminal (POS), handles financial transactions and makes change. * Completes required financial paperwork and may assist with financial reporting including daily sales, close-outs and bank deposits * Follows instructions of supervisors and assists other team members in performing store functions * Follows FedEx Office standard operating procedures as well as adhering to legal, HR, safety and security policies and procedures * Secondary responsibility for coordination of all shipping related services and activities, to include: * Provides customer service by determining appropriate shipping methods, informing customers of company products, services, routes, and rates * Ensures quality customer service is given to customers by providing packaging services, as well as offering information about company products and services * Offers assistance to customers by suggesting appropriate shipping methods.
