The Position: The Production Kitchen Assistant II supports the daily food preparation for King Arthur's Café and kitchen. The individual in this role has experience in food and menu preparation and works with strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. The Kitchen Assistant II will assist in leading the daily shift and will receive ongoing training from their team of dedicated and talented team members.

Full-time 40 hours per week. Day and evening shifts as agreed with flexibility to work weekend days as required. Latest Kitchen shift ends at 7pm!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures standards for portion, presentation, and quality for each recipe are maintained.

  • Assists in daily communication to and from the Sous Chef and the team.

  • Supports the kitchen leads with delegation of daily tasks.

  • Adheres to department punctuality expectations to support kitchen production.

  • Assists in balancing staffing levels with business demands.

  • Adheres to and maintains all food safety and sanitation standards.

  • Attends all scheduled employee meetings, bring suggestions for improvement, and engages in the development of the kitchen.

Minimum job requirements

  • Minimum 2 years experience of food preparation or equivalent required

  • Passion for food preparation and the dedication to consistently produce exceptional food.

  • Availability to work various shifts, including weekends and early mornings, in accordance with business needs.

  • Ability to interact well with others (team members, customers, etc.) in all situations.

  • Ability to multitask.

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Effectively shares space, ingredients and equipment with coworkers during production.

  • Ability to do dishes, clean and sanitize kitchen.

  • Has a desire for continuously improving culinary skills.
