Shift Details:

3rd Shift Role

12 hour rotating (7PM- 7 AM)

Week 1 - Sun, Wed, Thurs (36 hours)

Week 2 - Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat (48 hours)

What does a great Production Associate do?

  • Collate paperwork into job packets and forward to appropriate department for handling. Process all unplanned job orders within appropriate inventory system for picking of material and expedite to using department. Monitor requests on jobs needing expedited and put them to front of line.

  • Must be able to perform many manual / assembly duties.

  • Perform repetitious and previously performed work without supervisory and technical assistance. Assistance may be needed for other work.

  • Multi-tasking that requires focused concentration is expected to be learned - must be willing to cross train.

  • Utilizes basic skills and experience background to perform manual tasks.

  • Process transactions necessary for work situations that requires very good working PC user know-how.

  • As necessary, supervisor may assign to assist and help others with work.

  • Work from verbal or written instructions, work specifications, routing sheets, etc.; uses basic math ---- all in English.

  • May utilize and/or operate material moving equipment, carts, etc. and use some production tools including hand tools and precision devices.

  • Work overtime, weekends, and holidays as work schedules require. In peak periods additional overtime is required.

  • Comply with general work rules -- responsible for quality of own work, housekeeping of own work area, and to work safely.

  • Follow security procedures at all times.

Basic Qualifications for Consideration:

  • Work requires incumbent to be mobile and in a standing / walking position with ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.

  • Uses hands to handle, finger, or feel objects and to perform keyboarding.

  • Also uses hands and arms to reach and grab objects. Sometimes it is necessary to crouch or kneel.

  • Successful performance requires good vision abilities including close vision.

Preferred Skills, Experience, and Education:

Education and Experience:

  • Generally high school vocational orientated background or related education is preferred, and typically, 3 months to 3 years of fast pace, high volume production experience or similar background or equivalent combination of education and experience is needed to successfully perform job requirements.

  • Strong knowledge of production operation.

  • Time classified in the specific job classifications does not automatically qualify an individual.

  • In addition to the time guidelines, an individual must meet all other job requirements and a company approved job opening must exist.

Functional Area Skills/Knowledge:
  • Requires efficient PC user.

  • Requires the ability to stay under control while working with continually changing multi-tasks in a deadline work environment.

  • Must have good production knowledge to perform efficiently and provide quality services and timely delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Enforces safety and sanitation regulations per food safety and quality guidelines. * Responsible for initiating appropriate actions that address Food Safety concerns, including escalation to Quality and Management. * Directs and coordinates the activities of the employees engaged in the production or processing of goods, such as packers, machine operators, and blenders. * Develops and motivates team to solve own day-to-day operational issues and achieve plant goals through ongoing communication and facilitation of team meetings. * Coordinates daily inventories and supplies and other operational activities within or between departments. * Plans and establishes work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals. * Inspects materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions. * Observes work and monitor gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards. * Conducts employee training in equipment operations and work and safety procedures or assigns employee training to experienced workers. * Maintains records of employees' attendance and hours worked. * Counsels employees about work-related issues and assists employees to correct job-skill deficiencies. * Recommends or initiates personnel actions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, discharges, or disciplinary measures of direct reports. * Interprets specifications, blueprints, job orders, and company policies and procedures for workers. * Initiates and drives process improvements. * Reads and analyzes charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and evaluates current production estimates and outputs. * Document all records outlined by company policies, such as production records, HACCP, good manufacturing policies, standard operating procedures, and food safety and quality plans. * Oversees and completes production documentation, support documentation, and process control documentation throughout the facility. PHYSICAL DEMANDS * Work 40+ hours per week * Stand or walk for long periods of time * Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls * Bend and lift objects of up to 50 pounds QUALIFICATIONS * BS or BA preferred; Engineering or technical area preferred * Minimum of 2 years' experience in manufacturing and supervision experience preferred * Superior analytical and critical thinking skills * Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word * Ability to perform under pressure and to solve problems independently * Ability to communicate well with all employees and customers Heartland Food Products Group Indianapolis IN
