Position Summary

In this role, you will be responsible for support of manufacturing engineering and production within the facility; troubleshooting equipment, processes and other areas of support to assure production output. You will also be involved with safety, quality and lean initiatives within the facility. In this role you will serve as an engineering technician support resource to engineers and production.

This position reports to Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

According to the FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act), this position is classified as:

  • Non-Exempt

What You'll Be Doing

  • Providing technical assistance to the production department to build, troubleshoot, and repair product

  • Must be able to trouble shoot repair equipment as needed: Electrical, Pneumatic, Mechanical

  • Must be able to find short term work arounds as needed and long term fixes to keep equipment operational.

  • Assisting with the set-up of production areas and maintenance of production equipment

  • Involved in troubleshooting and failure analysis of finished goods

  • Respond to needs of production for process, equipment and other root causes for non-conformances and downtime

  • Prepare and collect data for engineering use for trend analysis and start up

  • Participate in qualifications and initial releases to production

  • Provide training as required on new equipment and processes

  • Serve as a go to for plant engineering assistance on projects and improvements

  • Install new equipment and start-up under guidance of engineers

  • Participate in safety and quality initiatives for the betterment of the facility and production

  • Work closely with other engineering technicians in a team environment

  • Participate in 5S and other visual factory improvements to production

  • Communicate status of projects, downtime, improvements and others to team, engineers and managers as required

  • Identify areas for improvement through servant leadership and follow through from production employee feedback

  • Order and set-up consumables as needed to support production and maintenance

  • Other duties as assigned

Required

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent

  • Up to 5 years of relevant experience

  • Experience with soldering

  • Strong communication skills: ability to work independently with little or no supervision

  • Knowledge of opto-electronics and industrial controls

  • Experience setting up and operating production equipment

  • Experience using tools of the trade

  • Calipers

  • Micrometers

  • Gauges

  • Multimeter

  • Ability to work independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function

Preferred

  • Associate's degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering Technology, Electronics Technology or related field
