If you are a MECHANICAL ENGINEERING student looking for an opportunity to grow, Copeland has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our CUDAHY, WISCONSIN location, you will perform tasks related to the design and production of industrial compression equipment under the direction of your assigned Engineering Manager. You will work directly with the Engineering department to assist with product design, manufacturing, and testing, while gaining valuable experience in engineering

AS A PRODUCTION ENGINEER INTERN, YOU WILL:

  • Participate in design reviews for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, contract requirements, and related codes and specifications

  • Review specific designs and make recommendations for product improvements

  • Operate CAD software to design, draw, and/or update components, parts, equipment, etc. within customer specifications, and according to company standards for quality and manufacturability

  • Test designed compression equipment in-house and/or at customer sites

  • Perform calculations required for the design of compressor parts or system components

  • Confer with vendors to investigate sources of special equipment, material, and/or devices, and acquire quotes and prepare requisitions

  • Assist with the electronic conversion and storage of historical files

  • Contribute as a technical resource to the shop, customers, sales, and other departments to address and resolve questions and problems

  • Participate in multi-functional teams to address new design issues and resolve problems to ensure the continuous, ongoing improvement of processes and methods

WHO YOU ARE:

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

  • Undergraduate student currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

  • Ability to work full-time during summer 2024 and part-time throughout the school year

  • Ability to read and interpret documents, such as drawings, specifications, codes, and standards

  • Effective written and oral communication skills, including typical uses of Microsoft Office

  • Understanding of how to calculate stress, system flow rates, and loads using the concepts of algebra, trigonometry, geometry, physics, the strength of materials, thermodynamics, statics, and dynamics to resolve technical issues

  • Ability to understand and solve a wide variety of technical problems with little mentorship

  • Legal Authorization to work in the United States

  • Sponsorship will not be provided for this role

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

  • Undergraduate student currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher

  • Ability to operate 3D CAD software

Flexible Work Schedule

  • Core Hours

This role has the flexibility of a core hour schedule. You can choose to flex your start and stop times given you are working during the core hours of 9:00am

  • 3:00pm. Our teams work together to ensure our chosen work schedules enable our creativity and productivity as we serve the needs of our customers.
