As our next Production Engineer, directly reporting to the Basic Ingredients Production Manager, you will provide technical support and leadership within Operations including formula and process improvements, scale-up of new products and processes, product transfers, and troubleshooting material and product quality issues, obsolescence reduction, effective problem-solving methodology.
In this exciting role, you will be responsible for:
New Product or Process Industrialization:
Review formulas and new processes for manufacturing, quality, and safety viability and resolve issues with support from the creator and other partners.
Lead and monitor scale-up and first-time production to ensure the product can be produced.
Lead and validate product transfers.
Propose and implement process and formula revisions to improve as applicable.
Technical Process Improvement and Engineering:
Implement process and formula improvements that will affect site performance (quality, cost reduction, yield, safety).
Coordinate resources and partners to ensure change management and project acceptance
Provide site process engineering support. Identify, justify, and provide scope and process requirements for technical process improvement projects. Strong link to M&E / regional engineering.
Review and update P&ID's, PFD's, and operational parameters for accuracy.
Oversee start-up of new equipment/processes.
Perform detailed capacity analysis and apply DMAIC approach to problem identification and resolution.
Technical Problem Solving
Identify opportunity for improvements in operations processes and lead solution development
Provide operations solutions for formula and process issues such as poor yield, chronic quality issues, excessive processing time, insufficient process controls, high product discard levels, and formula or process-related safety issues.
Provide solutions for the rework of out-of-specification product that requires technical intervention.
Project leadership and support
You?
B.S. (or higher) in chemical engineering or related technical field with 1-2 years experience in process and project work.
Manufacturing/Engineering technical background, including product industrialization, process engineering, complex machinery, and material flow, installations, and evaluation of equipment in a growth environment.
Familiar with LEAN fundamentals. Understanding of accounting, financial, and MRP systems.
Understanding of local, state, and federal regulations and GMPs affecting the food industry.
Knowledge of Food and Flavor Safety and Quality requirements is required.
