The Production Engineer conducts moderate engineering studies using advanced engineering concepts and provides operational support for the Company's assets. This role is responsible for daily engineering and production activities, emphasizing job quality, safety, and cost associated with all production activities. Sometimes serves as task leader or team leader on assignments that require a broad knowledge of engineering under general supervision and guidance from management. Key Accountabilities

  • Actively participates in-field training and other on-the-job learning opportunities.

  • Assists in implementing new methods and ideas to enhance production, increase operational efficiencies, and decrease expenses.

  • Assists in artificial lift design of new and current wells and provides engineering support to field operations staff.

  • Works with other production engineers to develop workover programs and abandonment procedures for assigned leases.

  • Witnesses and performs key operations and practices of operational functions.

  • Monitors daily well performance and optimizes operations.

  • Communicates with vendors regarding best practices and quoting business services.

  • Assists in all conventional aspects of production engineering work.

  • Assists in evaluating, selecting, and applying standard or well-defined production engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.

  • Works within established policies and procedures to help meet set schedules and system or program requirements.

  • Occasionally mentors, guides, or directs less experienced engineers.

  • Observes the development of recommendations for complex issues.

  • Assists in the prioritization of preliminary adaptations and modifications.

  • Complies with all the Company's Safety and Environmental policies, practices, and programs. Takes corrective action within training limitations. Escalates as necessary.

  • Participates in and adheres to all training programs designed to enhance HSE knowledge, safety standards, and improve job performance.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Certificates, Licenses

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field required.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in oil and gas exploration and production.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Critical:

  • Knowledge and application of the fundamental engineering concepts to everyday practices.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment to produce results.

  • Demonstrated ability to think analytically and solve complex problems.

  • Time management and prioritization skills.

  • Knowledge of the basics of field production surveillance.

  • Knowledge of cased hole and open hole logs to provide workover programs and provide support to field staff.

  • Ability to learn while observing and supporting other, more experienced production engineers.

  • Advanced computer skills.

  • Communication skills, both verbally and in writing.

Required:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Basic knowledge of some oil and gas software.

  • Working knowledge of standard techniques, modifications, and extension of engineering theories, precepts, and field practices.

  • Ability to learn and interpret codes, regulations, and practices.

Desired:

  • Experience with artificial lift systems

  • Experience with surface equipment

  • Experience writing workover programs

  • Additional certifications and/or qualifications within the area of specialty that would enhance working knowledge and capabilities

Work Environment

  • Primarily office work environment.

  • Routine work involves common office activities during a typical 9-hour day such as standing, sitting, walking, typing, and twisting as necessary.

  • May be required to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

  • Must follow all company safety policies, including when visiting field locations.

Compensation and Benefits

The pay range for this position in California is between $107,120-$147,290 annually based on a full-time schedule. Please note that the annual salary information is a general guideline, and that annual salary will vary depending on your location and that Berry Corporation ("Berry") will consider factors such as (but not limited to) scope of responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considers when extending an offer. This position is eligible for short-term cash incentive bonus and long-term incentive awarded in restricted share units, excellent benefits including full health benefits, 401(k) with company match and immediate vesting, tuition reimbursement, 9/80 flex schedules, and generous paid time off.
