Boston 25 Directors execute clean and fast paced newscasts on air each day. Directors are the final gatekeeper and provide quality control for all aspects of the production. Using all of the tools available in our facility Boston 25 Directors bring our viewers engaging and compelling newscasts throughout the day.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Block rundowns and code scripts.

  • Lead production crew and assign tasks as needed.

  • Consult with Producer on production needs including implementation of graphics produced by Design Department.

  • Operate control room automation system during broadcast and ensure that changes in format make it on air cleanly.

  • Work with Engineering Department to troubleshoot and solve technical issues.

  • Have complete working knowledge of Sony ELC automation system in order to execute clean, well-paced live broadcasts.

  • Stay up to date on current graphic templates and "look" standards.

  • Communicate clearly with production crew so that everyone is on the same page with all aspects of broadcast.

  • Find creative ways to present our content to viewers using all tools available including set positions, camera blocking, graphics, and StoryTeller.

  • Take ownership of newscast by paying attention to details like background clutter, graphic needs, camera shading, etc.

  • A minimum of 2 years professional experience directing local TV news is preferred

  • Prior experience with control room automation systems is a plus

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university in Journalism or Communications preferred

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

  • Must be thoroughly professional in all aspects of production

  • Must be well read on current affairs and have a wide-range working knowledge and understanding of general interest subjects

Position is eligible for a $6,000 sign on bonus Directing the overall operation and administration of the laboratory, including the employment of personnel who are competent to perform test procedures, record and report test results promptly, accurately and proficiently, and assure compliance with the applicable regulations. Ensure that testing systems developed and used for each of the tests performed in the laboratory provide quality laboratory services for all aspects of test performance, which includes the pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases of testing. Assist the principal investigator on contract duties. This includes organization of contracted work review of quality control records to ensure compliance and attendance at Principle Investigator's meetings. Designs and develops research work done in the HLA Laboratory in order to make productive advances in the fields of Immunogenetics and/or Histocompatibility, which are consistent with the overall goals of the American Red Cross Blood Services. Ensures that HLA Services remain current and knowledgeable of recent advances in the fields of Immunogenetics, Histocompatibility and Molecular Biology. Prepares research publications, grant requests and regularly scheduled research progress reports, manuscripts summarizing projects and results for review and publication in professional journals. Assists in maintaining high quality, reliable and cost effective clinical HLA testing services. Provides technical support for clinical HLA testing services. This includes, but is not limited to: Review of necessary test reports, quality control and compliance with ASHI standards Help resolve difficult or unusual clinical testing problems Reviews and updates procedures as necessary to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, National Red Cross Blood Services Directives (BSD's), American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) standards and New England Regional policies and procedures. Organizes and directs special projects to evaluate, improve and/or develop new test procedures, techniques and reagents, some of which may be offered as clinical services. Collects and analyzes data, interprets results and adjusts course of project as necessary. Ensure that the technical staff participates in continuing education relevant to histocompatibility and/or immunogenetics testing at least to the level of the minimum requirements outlined by the ASHI Accreditation Review Board. Acts as a resource in the field to staff members and area hospitals and participates in HLA workshops. Participates in meetings and seminars to present own work and discuss research of others. Ensures that customer satisfaction is given top priority at all times. Seeks new accounts, contracts and services to ensure the continued success of the laboratory. Qualifications: Requires a M.D. or Ph.D. degree. This position requires an extensive working knowledge of a broad range of areas: HLA-ABC, DR and DQ serology; cell culture techniques;cross matching for platelets and solid organ support molecular testing techniques; PCR; oligonucleotide hybridization, DNA sequencing as well as in depth knowledge of other areas in the field of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics. Requires 4 years of experience in all phases of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics. Must be certified by ASHI as a qualified Director or be eligible for certification.
