We are seeking a Lead Mechanical Artist to join us at an exciting time for Hogarth Worldwide. As a Lead Mechanical Artist, you will be guiding the high quality production of mechanicals for printed materials to be viewed by the world. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of all aspects of print design and production, and will be working alongside a talented team of technical and creative Mechanical Artists and Project Managers. This is a role for a collaborative individual and a creative problem-solver who is extremely detail oriented and capable of working with high expectations within flexible and demanding deadlines.
Collaborate closely with the Production Design team to gain practical knowledge of each creative campaign. Leverage key art to extend campaign tenets and strategy to a myriad of additional layouts.
Create print and digital layouts that align with campaign direction from the Creative team.
Strategize the implementation of a project's creative campaign across a full suite of print and digital deliverables.
Work closely with the Studio Manager to achieve the highest level of quality.
Be the point of contact for design-related communications. Communicate clearly and diplomatically across multiple Marcom teams, including Creative, Production Design, Project Management, Creative Producer, Print Production Management, etc.
Become a subject matter expert for the Channel category. Envision end use and apply strategies that result in quality and relevant execution.
Advise and direct Mechanical Artists during the mechanical build phase. Be flexible and collaborative in offering guidance while ensuring the highest level of quality and accuracy. Review layouts and provide feedback. Ensure creative changes are fully understood and implemented.
Work with Print Studio Management to create a production plan and make adjustments as needed. Document, use, and champion best practices.
Maintain meticulous quality control over mechanicals, ensuring element placement, text treatments, live area, etc. are aligned with campaign creative and brand guidelines. Conduct team critiques as appropriate.
Assist the team with preparation for reviews. Ensure layouts have been internally QC'd.
Contribute to the team's philosophy of continuous improvement.
Strong knowledge of fundamental design principles. Well-honed eye for sophisticated design, quality, and consistency. Able to extend the creative body of work in a production environment.
10+ years' experience in print design at an agency, studio, or similar environment.
Expert in InDesign and highly skilled in the full Adobe Creative Suite.
Able to communicate ideas and directions to others clearly, diplomatically, and concisely.
Proactive, creative, and solution-oriented thinking and execution.
Assist in constant evaluation of process, workflow and quality control between Production Design and Studio teams.
