Job Description

Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa is seeking Prep Cooks / Production Cooks to join our outstanding culinary team! This Production Cook 1 role will ensure all items are prepped, prepared, and stored according to hotel specifications. This particular position is for the PM (afternoon, evening) shift. AM positions are available as well. We are also hiring level 2 and level 3 positions! See our complete job listings for more details.

These positions pay based on experience. Cook 1 Applicants can expect starting rates of $15.50/hr with under two years of experience or $16.50/hr with over two years of experience. Cook 2 level starts at $14.50, and Cook 3 level starts at $13.50.

Responsibilities

  • Independently prepare all food items as directed by supervisor and to the company specifications.

  • The ability to identify and Inspect all food products for quality.

  • Follow all storage procedures when taking food out of walk-in and when returning food to walk-in.

  • Safely and properly use all culinary equipment.

  • Must have a solid and demonstrated understanding of cooking skills and techniques.

  • Keep walk-in, prep area and equipment up to Health Department and EcoSure standards at all times.

  • Attend department meetings and other company required trainings.

  • Complete other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Required to have at least 4 years culinary experience in a hotel or restaurant kitchen.

  • Must be able to work efficiently without needing immediate supervision from management.

  • Must be familiar weights and measures in order to follow and multiply standard recipes.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as organizational skills.

  • Must have basic mathematical skills.

  • The ability to work in a fast paced high pressure work environment while executing delegated tasks and assignments.

  • Culinary degree and/or formal training preferred.

  • Texas Food Handlers certification required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry moderate weight. Must be able to walk/stand for extended periods of time, with frequent bending and twisting.

  • Must be able to utilize culinary tools (knives, commercial equipment, etc.) and taste/smell.

Working Environment:

  • Interior of hotel in restaurant and kitchen areas with exposure to humidity, steam and extreme temperatures.

  • Exposure to hazardous cleaning chemicals.

Tools & Equipment:

  • Cooking utensils and equipment.

Responsibilities * Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Omni standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the Resort. * Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper attire/uniform and name tag when working. * Provide outstanding service to members and guests in a friendly and professional manner, following proper steps of service. * Wipe down all service trays with fresh sanitizer water daily. * Bus tables. * Stock supplies and maintain full ice supply for side stations. * Put away product delivery items. * Transporting prepared food from kitchen to floor in a timely manner. * Ensure expo food items are covered and dated. Discard expired items. * Set tables with clean, pressed linen, china, silver, and glassware. * Ensure furniture and floors are clean and arranged according to specifications. * Assist servers during operating hours to help meet business demands, i.e. refilling guest drinks. * Remove any extra settings. * Inspect and clean coffee maker/urn, cappuccino machine, beverage machines, trays, dishware, silverware, glassware. * Must maintain full familiarity with menus and knowledge of beverage offerings. * Always wear gloves when handling food. * Cross train among other positions within the restaurant. * Maintain knowledge of the resort property. * Attend department meetings and other required trainings. * Perform any other duties as assigned by the restaurant manager. Qualifications Qualifications: * Must have and maintain current Texas Food Handlers and TABC certifications. * Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate both verbally and in writing in English with guests, members, management and co-workers, both in person and by telephone. * Must agree and adhere to compensation acknowledgment and tip reporting guidelines. * Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and multi task. * Must be able to work flexible shift including nights, weekends, and holidays.
