Overview

Serves as an advocate for quality production in print, finishing, and inserting of Compassion materials. Assembles trip books, sponsorship packets, brochures, mailings, and letters with accuracy and timeliness in support of Compassion's marketing and communications efforts. Utilizes various machines, tools, and computer applications during production that require a high attention to detail. May coach and oversee the work of other associates.

Essential Job Functions

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion's ministry in prayer.

  • Acts as an advocate for children raising the awareness of the needs, neglect, nurture, and potential of children in poverty and challenging and enabling those within one's influence to greater involvement and effectiveness on behalf of children.

  • Operates a wide variety of production duties in print, finishing, and inserting. Performs manual fulfillment to ensure effective, accurate, and timely processing of components and finished products as a part of the Compassion distribution center production process. May perform manual fulfillment for jobs that cannot be processed on automated inserting equipment.

  • Completes daily production, setup, operation, and maintenance of production equipment (including digital presses, production printers, high-speed inserters, programmable cutters, folders, creasers/perforators, booklet converting, punches, book binding and laminators.) Completes preventative maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; and troubleshooting simple malfunctions.

  • Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipates needed supplies, places and expedites orders for supplies, and verifies receipt of supplies.

  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.

  • Documents actions by completing production and quality forms. Maintains and updates process and procedure documentation on a regular basis.

  • Contributes to team discussions on work processes, goals, and issues. Explores process improvements regarding developments in post-print technology and provides recommendations to supervisor and manager as appropriate. Assists with projects resulting from large volume mailings, promotions, and campaigns.

  • May occasionally provide some general administrative support.

  • May provide coaching and technical advice to other staff.

We do this through the use of advanced, fast and highly mechanized equipment and processes designed and staffed for that purpose. If you have an aptitude for machine interaction and a passion for quality work and a fast-paced production environment, then this may be the position for you. We're looking for the right person to help us grow and change by learning our systems and becoming an expert equipment operator. This position is for a new associate on our second shift which operates from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM Monday through Friday, with opportunities for Holiday pay and Overtime as needed to produce the daily mail. The Mail Print Production Specialist is responsible for performing routine tasks that support the printing, mail processing, and finishing services used to produce transactional and non-transactional Company mailings. Assists in the set-up of jobs on the equipment (e.g., printers, inserters, finishing) by preparing and/or transporting needed materials used in the processing of work assignments. Ensures quality and accuracy of all materials. Additional responsibilities: * Loads paper, envelopes, mail inserts, and booklets on the equipment. Mixes inks, cuts paper stocks, adjusts roller pressures, changes sheet sizes, stocks weights. Performs machine cutting, folding, shrink wrapping, gluing, spiral binding, laminating and collating offset and photocopy projects. * Loads and bands United States Postal Service mail trays for shipment. Includes applying appropriate tray tags to mailing trays and stacking the trays for delivery. * Assists in manually processing mail that is out-sorted or damaged by the equipment. * Assist in troubleshooting and resolving equipment issues. * Assists in performing preventative maintenance to ensure equipment is in safe operating condition as needed. * Verifies the proper mailing date, postage, weight, contracts, out-sorts, and print quality. * Assists in documenting / completing paperwork to ensure compliance with service level agreements, project timelines, legal and postal requirements. * Complies with established safety procedures, policies, and processes with the intent of maintaining a safe working environment. * Assists with operating printing, processing and finishing equipment as needed. * Additional hours may be required during peak/seasonal periods. Must have qualifications High School diploma or GED equivalent.
