Production Assistant Westborough, MA Photo Studio

A Day in the Life
As a Production Assistant, you are a critical team member of our photo studio and will work cross functionally between the creative and production teams.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Build interior and exterior sets from a selection of modular set pieces
Install appropriate trim and moldings to sets
Maintain an orderly and updated set, workspace, and set library
Bring photography equipment to set and discuss with photographer which items and where items are needed (Includes: pulling down modifiers from storage, getting c-stands and high rollers, switching out modifiers - reflectors, beauty dishes, etc)
Collecting all items needed to rig up an overhead shot (boom, clamps, weights, sand bags, and cables)
Rigging of overhead items (chandeliers, lanterns, etc.)
Aid team in powering, lamping, and dimming of light fixtures
Staging the lights and modifiers for use. Setup lights, scrims, cards, packs,cables, etc.
Striking sets, disconnecting equipment, properly wrapping cords, storing items in the correct location, properly storing equipment (fastening bolts, knuckles, aligning stands, etc.)
Cleaning equipment/cords, re-taping v-flats, dusting modifiers
Assisting the photographers on-set with plating and troubleshooting
Keeping the bay organized and practice cord management
Putting miscellaneous gear away when not in use
Support production on multiple sets at once
Communicate and act clearly and concisely in a fast paced, changing environment
Maintain set elements; patching and painting walls and general repairs
Accountable for moving samples and set elements required for photo shoot
Setting up and tearing down lifestyle sets efficiently between shots
Collaborate with studio teams to review timelines for scheduled shoots
Communicating with on-set teams to ensure timelines are being followed for appropriate set changes as needed
Successfully provide relevant and immediate feedback in a fast-paced and complex environment
Confirm all product SKU information associated to the shots before and after each set wraps production
Using internal tools to track each photo shoot and metadata that should be updated for shot association

General understanding of commercial photography & photography equipment
Basic electrical skills and understanding around electrical safety
Grip and rigging experience
Carpentry and general building experience
Comfortable and proficient with hand tools
Comfortable and proficient in painting
Knowledgeable of basic construction techniques to build secure and safe sets that appear realistic to camera
Comfortable on a stepladder
Ability to track details of multiple projects simultaneously
Nice to Haves
Experience with DAM (Digital Asset Management) tools
Previous experience working in an agency or commercial photography studio
