Alcal Specialty Contracting, Inc. (Alcal) is a subsidiary of Pacific Coast Building Products, Inc. a family owned business since 1953. Alcal is a large specialty contractor, privately held and diversified that has operated continuously since 1971. It employs over 900 people and has branches in California, Colorado, Nevada, Arizona, Washington and Hawaii. Installed products include roofing, waterproofing, insulation, firestop, and garage doors for both commercial and residential construction. The company is signatory to the Roofers and Carpenters Union.

Our Tempe, AZ office is currently accepting applications for a Production Assistant.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assists with: hiring, terminating, safety, evaluations and disciplinary action as directed by superintendent.

  • Gathering timecards and entering payroll each day

  • Fill out incident/accident reports as directed by superintendent

  • Ordering materials for projects

  • Tracking material inventory and charges out to projects

  • Billing projects on monthly bases

  • Creating work orders

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Abides by all safety rules and ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected

Qualified applicants will have:

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent years of experience in the construction field

  • OSHA 30 certificate desirable

  • Ability to operate a variety of office equipment and computer programs

  • Valid AZ Driver's License

Brief Summary Responsible for partnering with the plant management and Supervisor to consistently produce and supply products that exceed customer and consumer expectations. Ensures that all Production Department processes are in compliance with specifications and standards. Engages plant personnel to strive for the highest standards of production and quality at all times. Supports the Production Supervisor and Manager in the development and monitoring of the assigned production team. Job Responsibilities * Assists Production Supervisor in leading all assigned production employees. * Serves as quality frontline leader between processing and packaging personnel. * Obtains production schedule, requests necessary work materials & distributes among all Production personnel as necessary. * Monitors and insures the compliance of the food safety program. * Performs random weight inspections of product to and take necessary actions to ensure targets are met. * Properly completes all documentation and reports. * Enters data into SAP system, according to work instructions. * Ensures quality area is clean and organized. * Verifies code dates, sealing, product weight, and product appearance, is within specified parameters and conform to clients' expectations. * Verifies equipment is in good working condition; communicates to management any deficiencies noted. * Performs visual inspection of product ensuring quality is acceptable. * Keeps work area clean. Perform cleaning of area assigned. * Completes the First Day Orientation for New Hires. * Provides suggestions to improve process, procedures and department in support of company goals * Verifies all personnel are present and well suited to work * Ensures employees are effectively performing assigned tasks * Maintains a positive and constructive work environment within the department as well as with other departments and promotes teamwork * Trains new employees and monitors and evaluates their progress (includes Safety, HAACP & Food Safety) * Fills in for Supervisor in absence * Conducts relevant monthly training meetings and participates in communication meetings * Works in a safe manner, observing all safety requirements * Verifies GMP's, Food Safety, Quality, and Safety standards are maintained at all times and take action and/or follow-up when deficiencies are noted * Consistently applies company rules per employee handbook and per company policies (i.e. attendance, safety, etc.) and ensures safety regulations, policies and procedures are followed * Ensures compliance with the HACCP program and AIB gold standard * Ensures all food safety principles and legal requirements have been applied effectively * Must work various shifts and hours including holidays and weekends * Other duties, as assigned Education High School Diploma, GED or equivalent Skills Desire to Learn Ability to lift up to 50lbs Experience in Processing or packaging of products Basic computer skills Must work various shifts/hours including holidays and weekend Be able to walk long distances and to be on his/her feet for long periods of time Must be able to work independently Must have good organizational skills with the ability to multi task and prioritize assigned work. Work may require the ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English and Spanish.
