Working under the close supervision of the Senior Production Editor, the Production Assistant will be responsible for a range of production and general departmental administrative tasks, supporting projects so they flow smoothly and accurately through all stages of the development process, on deadline and budget. Tasks include (but are not limited to): maintaining/updating information management systems, files, and archives; proofing and routing pages/files; attending project status meetings, launches, and cover design meetings; preparing reports; and maintaining department libraries.
Education and Experience
Experience in publishing environment a plus
Fluency with Excel, Microsoft Word required (cross-platform a plus)
Proficiency in, or a willingness to learn, Mac programs (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) as well as other relevant applications a plus.
Knowledge and Skills
Excellent language, people, communication, and project management skills.
Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines.
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
A strong ability to proof and check work; be a creative problem-solver.
Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time(sitting and/or standing).
The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings.
