General Summary

Astronics Test Systems is looking for a skilled assembler who is well versed in electro-mechanical assembly. Additionally, must have expert soldering capabilities. Must be organized, detail-oriented, able to read assembly drawings and schematics, and handle repairs and maintenance. The position requires a great attention to detail, quality and safety standards, compliance rules, and analytical skills.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reads work orders and schematic diagrams, follow production drawings, and sample assemblies, or receive verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.

  • Assemble electronic and mechanical components, subassemblies, products, or systems.

  • Able to crimp, stake, screw, bolt, rivet, solder, epoxy, or perform similar operations to assemble products.

  • Expert soldering skills to perform PCBA rework on through hole and SMT components

  • Mount assembled components, such as transformers, resistors, transistors, capacitors, integrated circuits, and sockets, on chassis panel.

  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with safety guidelines, procedures, rules, and regulations.

  • Identify and document any product defects.

  • Support Customer Support team with product returns by processing repairs and inspecting for defects or failures.

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Average proficiency in using measuring devices and instruments, demonstrated ability to read drawings and specifications.

  • Previous experience in repetitive manufacturing setting is preferred.

  • IPC training is preferred but not required

  • Good organizational and communication skills.

  • Maintain accurate record filling.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Must have strong work ethic, be self-motivated and willing to work with others within a team environment.

  • Ability to work autonomously with limited supervision as well as collaboratively with others.

  • Must have strong attention to details, read and understand manufacturing instructions.

  • Must be extremely familiar PCBA and electronic components.

  • Demonstrates analytical thinking and problem-solving skills necessary to troubleshoot production issues.

  • Must have good hand dexterity and hand eye coordination.

  • Experience using standard business software tools, such as Microsoft, Excel, and Word.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate issues.

  • Ability to lift at least 20 lbs.
