Product Validation

This product focused positionverifies and validates the functionality of Cummins' products across a widerange of customer requirements, across a variety of applications, in variousenvironments. This work plans, tracks, and evaluates results from a wide rangeof analyses and functional tests to assess product risk and performance. Theseresults are expected to drive quality decisions and proactively resolve productissues before the product reaches the customer.

Obtainsinput and negotiates with Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R)stakeholders to define technical requirements and delivers an optimizedcomponent-based analytical and experimental verification plan to the program orproject team.

Makesdecisions in the areas of verification and validation that impact productperformance, reliability, and durability.

Investigatesand addresses potential component concerns or issues, understands causal mechanisms,recommends appropriate action, owns problem resolution and documents resultswith guidance from more experienced team members.

Applies andsupports the improvement of processes such as technical requirements, iDFMEA, EngineeringStandard Work (ESW), DVP&R, test planning, and problem solving and toolssuch as Integrity, Microsoft Power BI, and McParts required to support theprocesses and enable high quality decision making.

Ownsproblem resolution for moderately complex components, products, systems,subsystems or services with a greater degree of technical complexity andambiguity over the entry level engineer level and with greater accountability tothe project team.

Providesindependent execution of established work processes and systems, while stilldeveloping technology or product knowledge; engages with the improvement ofsystems and processes.

Involvesminimal direct management of people, but could involve the coordination anddirection of work amongst technicians and/or temporary student employees.

Contributeseffectively toward team goals, exhibits influence within a work group andcontinues to develop proficiency in the competency areas critical to success inthe role.

Degree Programs Considered: Bachelor's, Master's, PhD

Major Programs Typically Considered: All Engineering Majors

Cummins Co-op program criteria:

Must be a full-time enrolled student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree

Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred

Must be able to complete a minimum of 12 weeks and up to a maximum of 52 week commitment

Must be able to complete 40 hours per week

Willingness to learn from others on the job

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.

Chemical Systems Engineer This applied science position applies chemical principles that create and develop product functionalities which are integrated and sold into Cummins' products. The position involves the research, design, analysis, testing and failure analysis of chemical based products, including catalyst, substrates, sensors, batteries and fuel cells. * Owns problem resolution for moderately complex components, products, systems, subsystems or services with a greater degree of technical complexity and ambiguity over an entry level engineer and with greater accountability to the project team. * Provides independent execution of established work processes and systems, while still developing technology or product knowledge; engages with the improvement of systems and processes. * Involves minimal direct management of people, but could involve the coordination and direction of work amongst technicians and/or interns. * Contributes effectively toward team goals, exhibits influence within a work group and continues to develop proficiency in the competency areas critical to success in the role. * Understand the degradation factors that occur over time for our products that provide chemical functionality. * Work with partner suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure chemical functionality is verified in a robust manner.
