BASIC PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION

The Product Support Engineer provides technical support and interface to various Kubota departments and initiatives for Information Communication Technology products and services.

Performs tasks of test fitting, performance testing, test report writing, statistical analysis, completing the engineering release documentation and supports customer and dealer interactions with immediate issue response and resolution.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES:

  • Partner with Product, Program, and Engineering departments to develop and maintain technical information necessary to support new product releases such as, technical specifications, knowledge base articles, instructional guides, and other materials through formal periodic reviews.

  • Works to understand the root cause of issues reported to Engineering and Product Support departments. Will provide direct Dealer or Customer support through escalated support requests. Will provide necessary support to develop and implement solutions to resolve these technical issues. This will include detailed failure analysis, documentation, remediation recommendations, and vendor management related to RMA processes.

  • Provides programmatic statistical analysis of data sets derived from ICT services.

  • Provides Product Support project leadership and management for all projects related to assigned product families, including-

  • Creation and delivery of presentations intended to communicate ICT project design and direction.

  • Safe and effective support for tool usage and mechanic skills as needed for new development projects. Able to do basic mechanic jobs unassisted as needed.

  • Working knowledge of modem scripting and hosted app configuration and management, as well as, quality assurance testing and validation of new development and deployed systems used by the Customer or Dealer.

  • Basic understanding of relevant standards and regulations used in our industry for all assigned products.

  • Fundamental understanding of the top competitive products for assigned products and understands key market applications for these products.

  • Strong working relationship with ICT Product Managers.

  • Works with Product and Engineering teams in support of developing new features and functionality that will expand and enhance the Kubota brand.

  • Attends trade shows, industry compliance meetings and training sessions as needed, to expand product knowledge.

  • Assists with Sales and Dealer Meetings to set-up equipment, demonstrative new products to show advantages, and meeting teardown.

  • Additional duties as assigned by management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science, Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical or Agricultural Engineering required.

  • At least 5 years related experience preferred.

  • Proven knowledge and understanding of engineering principles, including the ability to perform mathematical calculations at an engineering level to support assigned products.

  • Strong diagnostic, problem solving and documentation skills.

  • Knowledge, skill, and ability to safely operate agricultural and construction equipment including the ability to train and be trained in the same.

  • Proficiency using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CAD software.

  • Networking and Geospatial fundamentals including GNSS based technologies.

  • RF communication fundamentals in consumer and industrial applications.

  • Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems fundamentals in industrial applications.

  • CANBUS based systems technology and implementation that is used in vehicular systems.

  • Electrical/Electronic systems fundamentals including interfacing between systems commonly encountered in mobile equipment applications.

  • Willingness to travel up to 15% of the time.

EQUIPMENT OPERATION:

  • Office activities.

  • Operate agricultural, construction, and other Kubota equipment including tractors, backhoes and utility vehicles and attachments.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. The position will require walking, standing, and sitting in field, shop, office, and computer environments.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Exposure to damp/wet conditions, chemicals, fumes, moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, and excessive noise levels at times. Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is provided and must be used.
