Job Summary:

Provide technical support for all ground equipment (i.e. testers, portable media loaders and stations, portable software loading devices). Provide technical support for all ground support applications (i.e. Online Maintenance Tool, Data Analysis Reliability Tracker, eLOG).

Major Responsibilities:

System Performance Support

  • Provide feedback on system performance anomaly findings to Engineering in order to improve system testing/validation processes.

  • Create on-line tools to automate System LRU performance and problem/trend identification.

  • Test new ground equipment designs in support of tester design group.

  • Attend Technical Review Board for ground support equipment and provide "field use" perspective in new designs.

  • Perform development testing for support applications. Debug web-based support applications.

Technical Support

  • Correlate LRU repair data to on-aircraft problems directly associated with in-flight system performance.

  • Directly monitor and gauge in-service system performance using Airline System defect and System Built-in Test Equipment (BITE) data as source.

  • Identify and resolve system anomalies from defect and BITE data.

  • Review Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Service Bulletins (SBs) for design improvements of ground test equipment.

  • Coordinates the world wide distribution of ground equipment / apps solutions, particularly with portable software and media loading devices.

  • Investigate and troubleshoot ground support equipment down to root cause. In some cases responsible for incorporating patch or "fix" directly into equipment.

  • Monitor reliability and tester data for failure trends.

  • Coordinate ground support equipment information and to global Panasonic support locations.

  • Support OEM and customer system mock ups and laboratory racks.


  • Create Development Test documentation.

  • Responsible for ensuring all operation procedure and process documents are released and available to all end users. This includes authoring the technical content for such documents.

  • Create development test and ATP supplements for ground equipment/loader/ applications integration testing.

  • Create basic enclosure and wiring assembly drawings using CAD.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements:

  • Familiar with common avionics bench troubleshooting tools.

  • Fluent with MS Office and creating technical investigation reports, reliability statistics, and pivot tables.

  • Proficient with Linux, formal training preferred.

  • Familiarity with PHP and Apache is desirable.

  • Self motivated and makes significant progress without constant direction.

  • Ability to clearly communicate through all levels of the organization as well as external customers through verbal, written, e-mail and fax correspondence.

  • Ability to solve problems and think creatively is critical. Almost every new problem requires a unique approach.

  • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • BS Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), or Computer Science required.

  • 3-5 years experience in Avionics Tester/Ground Equipment support or design, including media and software loading.

  • Fluent with Pro e, or Catia or Autocad (vocational or tertiary training in this area required).

  • Database expertise required, preferably MySQL and some background on formal database normalization.

  • Strong background with avionics BITE systems.

Other Requirements:

  • Some travel to various sites (domestic and international) as required, up to 25%, to support in-field problems.

  • Up-to-date passport and ability to travel within and outside of the U.S. on short notice.

Take your experiences in embedded hardware and software product management to help us define cost effective features and requirements for Schneider Electric's industrial automation systems and delivering product releases for current and future products. For new system products, you and your team will be a primary driver in implementing lean strategies to deliver innovative embedded and system solutions for our Safety Instrumented System customers by providing high value secure industrial solutions as defined by product roadmaps. Responsibilities of the position include: * Collaboration with Product Marketing, internal and external integration teams, development and customer support teams in the development of strategic product and program direction that provides enhanced customer satisfaction and increased margins while improving our bid success rate * Converting high level product epics, provided by the Product Marketing team, into a Product Requirements document detailing the specific epics, features, and requirements for the products being developed. * Evaluation of potential solutions with a recommendation based upon QCDI (Quality, Cost, Delivery and Innovation) * Working with the Execution team, identify development sprint deliverables to optimize the development plan * Creating detailed acceptance criteria with documented feature demonstration requirements to insure requirements are met * Accepting sprint deliverables by insuring the acceptance criteria is met for delivered functionality * Coordinating external stakeholder (internal and external customers) evaluation of product definition and prototypes * Developing customer presentations and demonstrations of pre-release products during hosted beta sessions * Evaluating and managing pre-release sales requests * Generating product introduction videos * Review and approve documentation, training materials and manufacturing and service plans * Evaluation of customer Product Enhancement Requests for future project consideration * Work with the customer support team to insure and enhance customer satisfaction Education Required: * Minimum Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline.
