Job Purpose (Job Summary):

The Product Strategy and Development Manager role will direct and lead initiatives in support of Invesco's strategic principle of building and maintaining enduring investment solutions within an all-weather product line. Under limited supervision, reporting to the Head of US Product Strategy and Development, the position is primarily responsible for implementing the U.S. retail product strategy, but will also play a role in the development of that strategy. The strategic agenda covers the development of new products and enhancements to existing products. The Product Strategy and Development Manager will be expected to work closely with their colleagues within the Product Strategy, Research, and Development team including team members in Global Governance, Institutional Product Strategy, and Canadian Product Strategy. Other key relationships include sales, investment teams, legal, compliance, and operations stakeholders who will be critical in the development and implementation of product initiatives. Additionally, the role may support Invesco Solutions and Global Product Governance as needed. BEHAVIORAL PROFILE The ideal candidate has innate leadership characteristics, with a working knowledge of the U.S. investment industry, including retail marketplace, defined contribution markets, investment strategies and appropriate regulatory, regulatory, and tax frameworks. He/she has a natural ability to motivate and influence both people and processes outside of their direct reporting structure and is capable of successfully managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines under pressure. He/she should be comfortable building relationships with numerous internal business partners at all levels (including C level executives) in an effort to build consensus and complete the initiative. He /she has business acumen, understands U.S. securities regulations and applicable internal revenue code requirements, and excels at communicating with all levels of the organization including sales, compliance, operations and Invesco management. This individual maintains the highest level of integrity and professionalism in carrying out the duties and responsibilities of the position. The ideal candidate will need to be a self-starter and be comfortable with ambiguity as there is not a well-worn path for many of the teams initiatives.

Key Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Develop fact-based supply and demand analyses based on competitive intelligence, market trends, knowledge of capital markets and distribution channels

  • Understand proposed investment process and evaluate its strengths and weaknesses relative to other Invesco capabilities and competitor strategies

  • Continuously evaluate existing product line for potential enhancements and implement any changes with key stakeholders

  • Determine appropriate vehicles and distribution channels for product proposals based on market opportunity, buyer behavior, and vehicle constraints

  • Work closely with investment teams to implement investment strategy within regulatory parameters

  • Partner with the Global Performance Measurement & Risk team to evaluate and identify investment strategy and other risks

  • Lead regulatory and tax evaluations of proposed products

  • Develop pricing models based on market, environmental, and related Invesco concerns

  • Partner with finance to develop robust financial analyses

  • Present new product proposals to appropriate approval entities (LOPC, IPC, SMDs, Funds' Board of Directors, etc.)

  • Assist in the training of the sales team related to new products or product enhancements

  • Build and strengthen relationships with legal, compliance and operational stakeholders

  • Stay abreast of new products, industry trends, competitor strengths and weaknesses; communicate trends and information to the sales team and other stakeholders

  • Partner closely with Product Development and Governance to ensure a successful implementation

  • Assist with special projects or new responsibilities as needed

Work Experience / Knowledge:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in the financial services industry

  • Exceptionally strong communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Competitor intelligence experience is preferred

  • Masters degree preferred but not required

  • Travel is currently limited (10%-20%) with the potential to increase with the growth needs of the organization

The team is responsible for managing the annual strategic planning process, monitoring the market and competitive landscape, and delivering high quality strategic analyses on an ad hoc basis for the Executive Team, among others. This position will report to the Vice President, Strategy and Corporate Development and have a primary role in managing the group's efforts to analyze and develop long-term strategic plans and evaluate and execute business opportunities, including completing valuation work, preparing and presenting proposal to the executive leadership, as well as liaising on key projects as part of the Strategy and Corporate Development team. As Novelis continues to evaluate its commercial portfolio and long-term strategic plan, the Strategy and Corporate Development team will supports key decision making by planning the strategic direction and recommending the most profitable paths and levers that are critical to meeting long-term performance targets. This position is a key role in helping to develop Novelis' long term corporate strategies. Responsibilities & Qualifications Role Responsibilities * Strategic Planning Process: Develop long term strategic plan and objectives, conduct annual value- and fact-based reviews of Novelis's product portfolio (including economic profitability, revenue potential, profitability, capacity utilization, operating cost and quality), and identify and analyze trends and opportunities in Novelis's existing and new markets. * Initiate and maintain the market updates * Develop competitor analysis to enhance the understanding of the market competition * Investigate and analyze the demand drivers to understand and forecast the FRP demand. * Cooperate with sales team to build and maintain the regional fact base. * Corporate Development: Identify and assess opportunities in existing and new product markets, evaluate potential candidates for acquisitions or joint ventures, and evaluate and recommend existing businesses for enhancement, investment/growth or disposition. * On a specific mandate basis, actively investigate opportunities that will come up from time to time from within Novelis (the regions or the Corporate office), or from external sources such as our shareholder or potential partners, through a diligent review of business cases. * Develop financial models, perform market analysis and develop business cases to confirm the value (or not) of these opportunities. * Manage the execution of mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and other special projects. * Business Analysis and Market Research: Review and evaluate competitive threats in Novelis's markets, including proposed mergers of peers, customers and suppliers. Identify enterprise risks and opportunities resulting from government regulation and lead coordinate action plan to mitigate risks or capture opportunities. * Identifying new business opportunities in regions. * Supporting with background research and analysis on various projects relating to business development. * Enterprise Risk Management: Execute a corporate-wide enterprise risk management framework and strategy by coordinating enterprise risk management activities and responses covering all Novelis business activities. * Identify, measure, control, and monitor top enterprise risk issues for the Company.
