Function Overview

Whirlpool is seeking a qualified candidate for the role of Product Quality Lead Engineer.

In this role, this person should be a passionate, visionary leader capable of driving change and discipline throughout the organization. Whirlpool is looking for someone with the ability to serve as a business partner to the various division leaders, as well as the rest of senior management. We want someone with experience in an operation or manufacturing setting with a solid background in new product introduction (NPI) quality and sustaining quality is required to be successful in this role

Job Responsibilities

  • Own and deliver Total Cost of Quality (TCQ) reporting, including annual profit plan, long-range plans, and monthly outlooks

  • Own process for cross-functional quality assurance and management teams to drive design, manufacturing and supplier quality improvements

  • Identify top drivers and drive containment and issue resolution. Own early warning monitoring including weekly, monthly meeting and action lists

  • Coordinate projects, manufacturing planning, and testing and existing product management

  • Provide quality data analysis and risk management on all Cost Improvement and Quality Improvement (CI/QI) projects

  • Maintain weekly/ monthly project updates and host a commercial quality meeting

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering,
  • 5+ years' experience in an operations or manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • Ability to influence and change the organization

  • Strong data acquisition, analysis, and knowledge building skills

  • Product Knowledge and technical product development

  • Knowledge and exposure to manufacturing processes

  • Ability to master details of Total Cost of Quality (TCQ) information and reporting systems

  • Ability to work with all levels and functions within the organization

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Proven track record to create organizational alignment

  • Proven ability to drive initiatives that support change

  • Leadership skills in driving new ideas

  • Proven ability to analyze and process problems while providing effective solutions

  • Resourcefulness in accomplishing objectives and completing tasks

  • Proven ability to create and lead effective cross-functional teams to resolve issues, deliver results

  • Must be customer focused

  • Proven success in leading and implementing lean practices and principles

  • Six Sigma black belt certification preferred

Scope of Role: Responsible for the continuous improvement, lean value stream process support, and maintenance of manufacturing processes to maximize productivity while minimizing costs.
